                                            Hello again readers!
I've touched on this subject before, but I was inspired by a post I read, and want to revisit.
Nicholas Godejohn.
Does he belong in prison, or a hospital?
In my opinion, neither.
My co admin in Gypsy Rose Unloaded suggested a group home, and I couldn't agree more!
As you know, my nephew has the same form of autism.
What you don't know is, I also have autism.
I had an amazing support system who did not enable me, but treated me like any other person.
Not different. Not special.
Normal.
I have episodes, I call it sn*******ng. A little snowball rolls downhill, gets bigger and bigger until it crashes into something, and explodes in emotional chaos.
I'll believe you, I can't tell if you're lying. I don't understand most social qeues. I'll be 50 this year, and I struggle every single day. I don't know if people like me, and I can't tell if a person is joking or being mean, so humor has become my defense mechanism. Not everyone is as lucky as I was.
Not everyone has support.
While individuals with autism are not inherently more prone to crime, their unique neurodevelopmental differences can impact their understanding of social norms, legal concepts, and the consequences of their actions. The criminal justice system must consider these factors when determining appropriate responses to crimes committed by individuals with autism.
Nick was given no such consideration.
They wanted to turn Gypsy into a victim, so they needed a villain.
They threw that boy to the wolves.
A hospital setting, such as a psychiatric unit, might be appropriate if the person is deemed unfit to plead or requires assessment due to mental health issues related to their autism. However, it's crucial to consider that autism itself does not cause criminal behavior, and a hospital isn't always the most suitable or just solution.
Again, Nicholas got no assessment.
He needed therapy.
He got the s**t end of the stick.
Ask me again why I hate gypsy?
I appreciate you all, even if you think I'm a big meany, out to ruin poor Gypsy.
Thanks for taking the time to read my posts.
