A Kansas woman was shot to death on a front porch after her boyfriend allegedly bombarded her with 18 phone calls in two minutes – upset that she’d gone to a Halloween party he told her not to attend.

On November 1, 2025 around 4:30 a.m., police say officers were called to the 700 block of North 11th Street in Kansas City, Kansas for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found a woman on a front porch with a single gunshot wound to her lower back. She was taken to a hospital, where she died.

The victim was identified as 20-year-old Ana Juarez.

Juarez was shot and killed just days before her November 4 birthday.

“It must have been her crazy boyfriend,” a witness said at the scene, a remark captured on police body-camera footage.

Witnesses told investigators Juarez had been at a Halloween party when 22-year-old Kevin Calamaco-Morales began blowing up her phone with calls and messages.

One partygoer said Juarez was declining the calls when Calamaco-Morales started shouting her name outside.

Friends described the relationship as “toxic,” telling police Calamaco-Morales disliked her going to house parties and kept tight control over her movements.

The friend allegedly stated that Ana told her that Kevin is controlling and always wants to know where she is at and what she is doing and tells her what she can and can’t do. Earlier in the week when the friend first asked Ana to come out for Halloween, Ana said Kevin wouldn’t let her.

After learning where Juarez was that night, Calamaco-Morales allegedly unleashed a flurry of calls – 18 in two minutes starting at 4:21 a.m. – and sent a string of texts and messages on social media.

“You deada–?” he wrote in a Facebook message, later repeating, “Deadaaa bro?” He allegedly added, “Ight bet,” followed by, “You’re out the f–ing house h– a– b–.”

Police say Calamaco-Morales went to the home where they party was being held, approached the porch and shot Juarez as she walked through the front door.

Multiple witnesses identified Calamaco-Morales as the suspect and he was arrested at his home that day.

A friend of the suspect told investigators that she thinks that Kevin is the shooter because of his attitude towards and with Ana and that she doesn't do what he wants. She has also seen him with guns before.

Calamaco-Morales was taken into custody and has been charged with first-degree murder and criminal discharge of a firearm.

Calamaco-Morales was booked into jail on a $500,000 bond and is scheduled to return to court on December 16.

On November 17, 2025, police say officers were sent to the 2400 block of Pennsylvania Street in Gary, Indiana in response to a gunshot victim. Upon arrival, they saw a woman on the ground, staring face up with a red stain in her abdomen area. Police saw a man standing over her, saying that the gun used was under a loveseat and police found a sawed-off shotgun.

At 3:04 p.m., the Lake County Coroner’s Office said the woman was pronounced dead at the Methodist Hospital Northlake emergency room. Her preliminary cause of death as bleeding to death after a close-range gunshot wound, which entered her body in a downward trajectory, according to the autopsy.

The victim was identified as 26-year-old Arrianna Miles.

The man, 26-year-old Charles Franklin told police the pair were arguing and Miles had the gun when they started fighting and wrestling, which is when the gun went off.

In a later search of Miles’ house, police found five 12-gauge shotgun shells that matched the one spent shell casing previously found on scene.

In the 911 call, Franklin tells the dispatcher that Miles was shot in the stomach and he is applying pressure to the wound. When asked if the shooting was intentional, Franklin hesitates before saying “no” and claims the bleeding is under control. Miles is heard in the background saying repeatedly, “Why would you do that?” As she is laboring in pain, Miles sounds like she is in and out of consciousness, stating “I’m dying” and “take me outside” before ultimately going silent and struggling to breathe. Miles allegedly tells police to “Please get him away from me” — referring to Franklin — when they arrive on scene.

Franklin was interviewed by police, where he said he was involved in a verbal argument with Miles, his girlfriend and the mother of his 11-month-old son. He said the argument started as he wasn’t leaving in a timely manner to get ci**rs from a gas station; he said Miles was in the process of kicking him out and bringing up old arguments, including that he cheated on her.

He claimed he was trying to stay calm and not getting physical. He said Miles was holding their son and throwing his clothes onto the living room floor. He said that she grabbed the gun from a closet and held it with the barrel facing her. He claimed the stock was angled up and the barrel angled down, which police noted is contradictory to the size and weight of the gun.

Franklin allegedly said he approached, hit the butt of the gun and tried to grab it from her when the gun went off and struck Miles.

Police asked why the gun’s ammo was lying around and Franklin said he didn’t know.

A law enforcement database showed that Franklin choked, punched and hit Miles with a belt on April 12, 2025, and the pair filed protective orders against each other that month. On May 2, 2025, the database had a record of a domestic incident when Miles asked Franklin to leave and he replied that he loved her but would kill her. On June 9, Cook County Police responded to a parking garage where Miles alleged Franklin struck and choked her before slamming her into the ground and causing her to go unconscious for a time.

A witness said in another incident that Franklin was the aggressor toward Miles.

Franklin is facing charges of murder; unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, a Level 4 felony; domestic battery by means of a deadly weapon, a Level 5 felony; and domestic battery committed in the presence of a child younger than 16. He’s also facing a charge of intimidation, a Level 6 felony, from a May 2 incident, and misdemeanor domestic battery from an April 12 incident.

Franklin is currently being held in custody without bail.

UPDATE: On November 20, 2025, the man accused in the death of his pregnant girlfriend in Massachusetts has been indicted on a murder charge in her death.

The suspect, 22-year-old Gregory Groom, is accused of killing 18-year-old Kylee Monteiro, who was 11 weeks pregnant and was last seen in August. He was indicted on charges of murder and witness intimidation.

He will be arraigned in Fall River Superior Court next week. He has been held without bail since his initial arraignment in August.

Investigators said they found Monteiro's remains in a grave dug on the property where Groom lives with his grandparents on County Street in Rehoboth.

Monteiro's family said she told them she feared for her safety shortly before her disappearance.

During his initial arraignment, the prosecution said that Groom was the first to contact police and report Monteiro missing on August 8. He reported that she visited his home and was looking for a place to stay, but that she left following an argument.

The prosecution said that Groom later admitted to police that he pushed Monteiro, who fell and hit her head, during an argument on August 6. The prosecution said he further admitted to knocking her phone out of her hand, which led to charges including domestic assault and battery.

Investigators said that Monteiro sent a message to her sister, saying, "'He threw me on the ground, and pulled my hair and strangled me. My phones at 4 percent if I die, it was Greg.'"

Ultimately, police told Groom they were preparing to search his property, and he admitted to stabbing Monteiro multiple times with a kitchen knife during an altercation. The prosecution said that he told officers about digging a hole in the woods, where he hid the body.

Monteiro's body was found about 20 yards from a shed where the fight occurred and 5 feet underground, the prosecution told the court.

A Pennsylvania man was arrested in Florida after police say he ambushed his ex-girlfriend with a knife, cut her, strangled her and shaved parts of her hair in an attack that began after she ended their relationship upon discovering he was married.

The suspect, 35-year-old Uladzimir Aliakseyeu, went to Florida and confronted the woman outside her North Miami Beach apartment complex on July 24, 2025.

The victim told officers she had broken up with Aliakseyeu after learning he had a wife in Pennsylvania, but said he had been trying to find out where she moved.

Police said Aliakseyeu told the woman to come outside, where he was waiting in a black BMW SUV.

When she got inside, he allegedly put a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her and “throw [her] into the ocean.”

As she struggled to escape, he cut her forearm, placed his knee on her throat, and used electric clippers to shave off portions of her hair.

He then allegedly punched her repeatedly before she managed to break free and run for help.

Investigators said Aliakseyeu fled the scene that day but was taken into custody on November 19.

Aliakseyeu is charged with multiple felonies, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery causing bodily harm, false imprisonment with a deadly weapon, and domestic battery by strangulation, as well as misdemeanor assault and battery.

UPDATE: On November 18, 2025, a man was sentenced to life in state prison for the fatal shooting of his ex-girlfriend in a case the prosecution described as a "chilling, premeditated ambush."

The suspect, 20-year-old Malik Coleman, pleaded guilty to First Degree Murder with the Use of a Deadly Weapon.

On November 16, 2023 around 8 p.m., police say officers responded to a shooting report at an apartment building on N. Virginia Street in Reno, Nevada. They located 18-year-old Janaya Baker deceased from a gunshot wound to the head inside her apartment doorway.

At approximately 5 p.m., surveillance video from an apartment hallway showed Coleman entering the apartment, where he waited for over two hours for Baker's return. The video captured audio of Baker's reaction upon seeing him: "what are you doing here?" followed immediately by the sound of a gun discharging. Coleman was then seen leaving the premises.

Authorities confirmed the couple had recently broken up, and Baker had asked two weeks prior to the shooting to have Coleman's name removed from their apartment rental agreement. Baker's mother also told police that Coleman had texted her the night of the murder to report Baker had been shot.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Nicole Hicks, who appeared for the State, urged the court to impose a life sentence, stating during sentencing, "not one year, one minute, or one second less." Presiding Judge Kathleen Sigurdson imposed the life sentence, which makes Coleman eligible for parole after serving 28 years.

A driver who claimed self-defense in the shooting of a Florida DJ is now facing a charge for second-degree murder.

On November 20, 2025, 31-year-old Joel Moreno Cobo was arrested in connection with the November 14 incident in Tampa.

Officers said despite Cobo’s initial claims, they determined that the victim, 41-year-old Dedrick Sykes, was not armed and did not make any threats before he was shot by Cobo.

Police found Sykes, also known as DJ Shy Guy, laying on the ground between two cars at the intersection of East 5th Avenue and North 22nd Street that night. Sykes later died at a nearby hospital.

Investigators said Cobo remained on scene, telling them that he had shot the DJ out of self-defense during a roadway dispute.

Detectives relied on witness statements and other evidence to piece together the events that led up to the shooting.

According to police, Cobo was driving in a BMW when he came to a stop sign eastbound on East 5th Avenue at North 22nd Street and was blocked from progressing by a woman in an SUV.

Sykes was in a Jeep Cherokee directly behind the SUV. Officials said Cobo flashed his lights to get the driver of the SUV to move, and as the SUV moved forward, Sykes also drove forward, turning west onto East 5th Avenue.

Police said a brief verbal altercation took place between Cobo and Sykes, before Sykes’ Jeep came to an abrupt stop. Sykes then got out of his vehicle, and within seconds, witnesses reported hearing gunfire and seeing Sykes fall to the ground.

The gun used in the shooting was in a holster in Cobo’s waistband and was immediately taken into evidence.

Police said through their investigation, they reached the conclusion that criminal charges were necessary. Cobo was arrested at his home just after 7 p.m. and taken to the Orient Road Jail. He is being held without bond.

“Justice is rooted in evidence, and that has guided our entire investigation,” said Chief Lee Bercaw. “This arrest is the direct result of patience and precision, ensuring that we could bring a suspect into custody, and provide fact-based answers to a grieving family as they navigate this difficult time.”

UPDATE: A fourth man has been charged in connection with the murder of 18-year-old Kaniah Jennings.

On November 20, 2025, 20-year-old Antonio Branch, Jr. was officially charged with tampering with physical evidence in a felony prosecution, according to the Pemiscot County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

He’s being held in the Pemiscot County Jail without bond.

An arraignment is scheduled for November 24.

Branch was at Keenan Peoples’ home on Ash Street in Hayti, Missouri on November 4 and he saw Keenan Peoples carry an item out of the home that investigators believe to be associated with evidence found with Jennings’ body.

Branch allegedly told investigators that on November 5, he retrieved a “tote” from beside the trash can near the road, in front of the home, and that he looked through it. He said he saw multiple articles of clothing and a piece of metal.

Allegedly, Branch told investigators he put the tote containing the items on top of a fire ring in the front yard of the home and broke up sticks to put around the tote while Keenan Peoples raked leaves up around the tote.

He told them Keenan Peoples poured gasoline all over the tote and leaves, and he threw his “black and mild” that he was smoking onto the burn pile.

Investigators believe the items in the tote belonged to Jennings and Keenan Peoples.

Jennings was found dead in rural Pemiscot County on November 14.

Three other men, including Keenan Peoples, charged in connection with the case appeared in court on November 20.

They are each set for another court appearance on November 24.

On July 11, 2015, Vincent Moore was last seen leaving his father's house near 31st Street South and Hydraulic in Wichita, Kansas. He was accompanied by his father, Gary McKensey Moore Jr., at the time. Gary was carrying a blue and black floral-print diaper bag. Vincent has never been heard from again.

Vincent was four months old at the time of his disappearance.

On June 5, Vincent's mother, Michelle Mendez, dropped Vincent and his 2-year-old brother off for a visit with their father. Gary took both children to Texas sometime in mid- to late June, and they stayed there until July 9, then returned to Wichita. During this time, Mendez made repeated attempts to get in touch with Gary and see the children, but she was unable to reach them, so at the end of the month she notified police.

Gary was arrested at a traffic stop in Wichita on July 29, eighteen days after Vincent was last seen. He had Vincent's brother with him, but not Vincent. Gary claimed he gave Vincent back to Mendez, but Mendez says he did not and she doesn't know her infant son's whereabouts. She passed a polygraph in the case.

In 2014, he had been sentenced to probation for misdemeanor battery on Vincent's mother. He was ordered to pay court costs, report to a probation officer, wear a GPS tracking device on his ankle, and have no contact with Mendez.

In August 2015, Moore was sentenced to a year in jail for violating his probation: he had failed to pay his court costs, he cut off his tracking device before he traveled to Texas, and he had also married Mendez in February 2015, in violation of the no-contact order. In May 2016, he pleaded guilty to tampering with electronic monitoring equipment and was sentenced to additional time in prison.

Mendez was concerned for the safety of their children when they were in Gary's care. She filed for a protective order on June 18, two weeks after she last saw the boys. In her application she wrote that Gary had "never intentionally hurt" Vincent and his brother, but stated Gary was "rougher than he intends to be" and that he tried to use the children to control her. She said she thought it was "only a matter of time" before he hurt them.

In August 2015, Kansas Department of Child Protective Services (DCF) removed Vincent's brother from Mendez's custody and placed him in foster care. At a child-in-need-of-care (CINC) hearing held in October, DCF officials said there was "clear and convincing evidence that Vincent is deceased."

Vincent's relatives have criticized the police investigation, saying they don't think authorities are trying hard enough to find Vincent. No one has faced any charges in connection with his disappearance; it remains unsolved.

If you have information regarding the disappearance of Vincent Moore, we ask that you contact WPD investigators at 316-268-4379 or email the Cold Case Unit at [email protected]. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you can send a tip to Crime Stoppers by calling 316-267-2111.

UPDATE: Brandon Isabelle, who was convicted in the 2022 death of his girlfriend and their 2-day-old baby, has been sentenced to another 45 years in prison for additional charges.

On September 30, 2025, Isabelle was convicted of the deaths of 27-year-old Danielle Hoyle and their daughter, 2-day-old Kennedy Hoyle. Isabelle was sentenced to life in prison immediately after his conviction.

On November 20, he was sentenced to 22-and-a-half years in prison for aggravated child abuse and 22-and-a-half years for especially aggravated kidnapping.

Judge Carlyn Addison said the sentence reflects every hour of Kennedy's life.

"The fact of the matter is this: this world is darker because Danielle and Kennedy Hoyle are not here," Addison said. "There are no words that I can use that can make sense of what has happened. There are no words that I can use to bring your loved ones back."

Isabelle will serve the sentences consecutively.

Isabelle admitted to shooting Hoyle and then throwing Kennedy into the Mississippi River in February 2022. Hoyle's body was discovered on February 1, 2022, in the area of Sedgwick Street and Levi Road in Memphis, Tennessee.

Isabelle originally told investigators that he had left Kennedy near the river on Mud Island. After officers searched the area, Isabelle later told investigators that he pushed her into the river.

In his confession, which was played for the jury during his trial, Isabelle stated that he threw Kennedy into the river because he did not want to be a single parent after shooting Hoyle.

Addison said that she hopes that she will never have to watch the community suffer the way it suffered after news broke of Hoyle and Kennedy's deaths.

Isabelle took the stand to address the court and Hoyle's family. Isabelle apologized to Hoyle's family, as well as the court.

"These things that I go through every day, they eat me up inside," Isabelle said. "These tragic proceedings do hurt. I understand what I did, and I take full ownership of what I did."

Isabelle said that he prays that he makes better decisions for himself and those around him moving forward.

Isabelle's defense attorney argued that Isabelle was going through a tumultuous relationship with another woman, identified as Artesha Stewart, at the time of Hoyle and Kennedy's deaths. The defense said that Isabelle allowed his emotions to run his brain.

Isabelle's defense also pointed out that, aside from traffic violations, Isabelle had not been convicted of any criminal offenses before he was convicted of killing Hoyle and Kennedy.

The prosecution argued that none of the mitigating factors holds weight, citing Isabelle's repeated lies during interrogation and his actions after killing Hoyle and Kennedy, which included going to Walgreens and buying gifts for Stewart.

Investigators have identified a man accused of shooting his girlfriend to death and bringing her body to a police substation in Arizona.

On November 18, 2025 after 5 a.m., a Phoenix Police Department (PPD) sergeant was returning to the Maryvale Estrella Mountain Precinct on Encanto Boulevard when someone in the parking lot flagged him down.

Allegedly, the man told the sergeant that he had accidentally shot his girlfriend and that she was in the bed of his pickup truck.

Police said they found 32-year-old Jessica Guzman in the truck bed, wrapped in a comforter. They removed the bedding and saw that she had a gunshot wound to the head. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.

After officers read 36-year-old Josue Barreras Anaya his Miranda rights, the suspect reportedly provided more information on her death. Anaya told police that he and Guzman were asleep in his bedroom when the handgun he keeps under his pillow fell on the ground.

Anaya said the sound startled Guzman awake, and they began arguing because she thought he dropped his cellphone. He claims that as he picked up the gun, Guzman also grabbed it, and a struggle began before two shots were fired.

Officers went to Anaya’s house in the area of 71st Avenue and Thomas Road and established a crime scene. Detectives reportedly found blood and a handgun.

Back at the police station, documents said investigators found a pillow under the comforter in the back of Anaya’s truck. The pillow was reportedly soaked in blood and had a bullet hole. A fired bullet was found inside the pillow.

Anaya is jailed on one count of premeditated first-degree murder. He is currently being held on a $1 million bond.

UPDATE: On February 26, 2023, police say officers responded to a residence on West Caddo Avenue in Wilburton, Oklahoma to conduct a welfare check after a neighbor called 911 and reported hearing screaming before everything went quiet. Upon arrival, an officer was met with no response when he knocked on the front door. The officer saw the back door was open through a window and walked towards the back yard where he found a woman lying on the ground with several wounds. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The victim was identified as Linda Barnes.

The officer saw a woman, identified as Tracy Ann Mannon, through a window standing at the kitchen sink and washing dishes.

After additional officers arrived, Mannon was placed into custody and a protective sweep of the residence was conducted and a knife with red stains was found in the sink where the woman was seen standing.

Investigators with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation acting under an FBI Task Force commission took over the scene and spoke with neighbors, who said they heard Barnes tell Mannon something to the effect of "don't your mother" and later saw Mannon take off a robe in the backyard, leave the view of the neighbors, and return with a large blue container, and that is when 911 was called.

A neighbor then observed Tracy while she was attempting to roll something into the robe and believed it to be the body of Barnes.

During an interview with investigators, Mannon admitted to pushing Barnes out the back door and stabbing the woman after she fell to the ground. Mannon said the knife was stuck inside Barnes, so she went to the kitchen to grab another knife and stabbed her mother until she was deceased.

Mannon said she tried to cut the body of her mother up to place in the container but the knife she chose as too dull to complete the task. Mannon then told investigators she removed her blood-stained clothing and wrapped the items in carpet before placing the items in her closet and was in the shower rinsing off when the first officer arrived before she was seen standing in front of the kitchen sink.

Mannon stated she committed the crime of murder and felt no remorse for her actions.

Mannon was charged in Choctaw Nation District Court with first degree murder. A federal complaint for second-degree murder was filed in the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

On April 27, 2025, Mannon pled guilty to second degree murder in federal court.

On November 19, a federal judge has sentenced Marrow to 60 years in prison.

The federal public defender’s office had asked the judge to give Mannon a 15-year sentence because of mental health issues.

Three of Mannon’s family members gave victim impact statements, asking the judge for a lengthy prison sentence.

A 13-year-old was arrested after being accused of fatally shooting a man over the weekend.

On November 16, 2025 before 10:30 p.m., police said officers were first tipped off to the shooting near Bristol Drive in Cocoa, Florida. Upon arrival, officers found a man who’d been shot in his torso. Despite being airlifted to the hospital, he ultimately succumbed to his wound.

The victim was identified as 30-year-old Kelby Gavin Miller.

Afterward, though, detectives said they discovered that Miller had been communicating with a suspect via cell phone, though details about these messages were redacted in the report.

However, deputies said they later found surveillance footage that showed a “slim male” in a hoodie repeatedly walking to and from the shooting scene along A Street shortly before 10:30 p.m.

Eventually, detectives said they tracked the suspect to the home of 13-year-old Emeril Rachel, whose mother admitted to seeing similarities between her son and the person in the footage.

A detective was then escorted to Rachel’s bedroom, where they found a hoodie stained with blood and dirt markings, the latter of which matched a moment in the footage when the suspect was seen falling, the report states.

In addition, gunpowder was discovered on Rachel’s hand, though he denied every having a firearm, police said.

“Emeril did identify himself on the video and was shown still image photos of him before and after the victim was shot and killed,” the report reads.

As a result, Rachel now faces charges of manslaughter, and possession and use of a firearm during a felony.

No additional information has been provided at this time.
