‼️MISSING‼️Philadelphia police in Pennsylvania are asking for the public's help in finding a missing woman after her mom last saw her on October 4, 2025, leaving for work.

Captain John Craig, commanding officer of the Philadelphia Police Department's Northwest Detective Division, talked at a press conference on Wednesday about finding 23-year-old Kada Scott.

Scott's family reported her missing on October 5 after she was last seen by her mom on the 8300 block of Rodney Street at 9:45 p.m. when she left for work the day before. She works at The Terrace at Chestnut Hill and works an overnight shift from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Police describe Scott as 5 feet, 6 inches and 120 pounds. They said she arrived at work in her car and left before her shift ended, with her coworkers seeing her shortly before leaving work early. In the press conference, police said she didn't leave in her car and her phone is currently off.

Police said before she went missing, Scott told her family and friends that an unknown individual or individuals had been harassing her on her phone. They are investigating to learn more about this person or persons harassing Scott.

"What's troubling about this case is number one, you have a 23-year-old young lady who has completely disappeared. We have no cell phone activity or social media activity and she's not reached out to family or friends," Craig said.

Detectives are currently canvassing the neighborhood for video, interviewing friends and family and analyzing cell phone data. Scott's car has been recovered by police, processed and is being analyzed for evidence.

Police are taking a deep dive all over her social media, looking at internal messages and posts. They say social media was a big part of her life.

"Any information, no matter how small, it would will be of great use to detectives investigating this case," Craig said. "No matter what information you have, think of it as a possible piece of a large jigsaw puzzle … if there's a 100 pieces to a puzzle, you may think yours is insignificant, but without your piece, that jigsaw puzzle is not being solved."

Scott's family describes this as completely out of character. They said she's a bright, energetic woman who's in communication with her family and friends.

"We are heartbroken and terrified. If anyone has seen anything, no matter how small, please contact the police. We just want Kada home safely," the family said.

Any information can be forwarded to the tipline or call Northwest Detectives directly at 215-686-3353.

A middle school teacher that was convicted for ra**ng a 15-year-old multiple times was reportedly killed in prison by a convicted murderer.

On October 5, 2025 at around 6:30 a.m., 60-year-old Ernest Nichols was discovered dead beside his dormitory bunk in the Greene Correctional Institution, according to the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction.

Two days later, the Green County Sheriff's Office charged fellow inmate Wilbert Baldwin with murder in connection to Nichols' death, per the outlet. Baldwin was reportedly serving a sentence for second-degree murder, which he was convicted of in 2010.

Nichols was convicted of statutory r**e in 2011. Nichols r**ed a 15-year-old girl multiple times in a 6-month-long span beginning in the fall of 2008. Nichols also allegedly watched the teenager have consensual s*x with another boy.

The former gym teacher also reportedly created a fake Facebook account using his teenage son's identity and messaged the victim, asking her to make up s*xually explicit stories and to text him when she entered the shower. He also allegedly told her to tell other people that the s*x with Nichols was consensual if anybody asked about it.

The victim was reportedly not a student at Ransom Middle School, where Nichols worked.

On September 29, 2025, police say officers responded to multiple 911 calls regarding a stabbing that took place near 22nd and National in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim. He had a stab wound to his neck. Life-saving efforts were attempted, but he died from his injuries on the scene.

The victim was identified as 18-year-old Jaquveon Wright.

Wright and the suspect, 19-year-old Rae'Jianna Hall, were "blood cousins." Hall was one of the people who called 911 in this incident.

Allegedly, the suspect said that the victim was mad because she spit on him and says that he ran up and hit her. She admitted stabbing the victim and later asserts that she did not mean to do it and that it was also self defense.

The day after the crime, detectives interviewed Hall. She said prior to the stabbing there were arguments between her and Wright. Hall was mad that the victim was not assisting her in obtaining employment at a Taco Bell. Hall allegedly said that the victim had 'gotten up' in her face, so she grabbed some mace and a knife. At some point, Hall pepper sprayed the victim in his bedroom. Later the victim came to her room and tried to enter so she swung the knife at him putting a hole in his sweater. Allegedly, Hall stated that the victim came into her room and punched her causing her to fall back on her bed. The suspect told detectives at this point, she raised a knife over her head with the handle in her hand and the knife pointing down and stabbed the victim. The victim, realizing he had been stabbed, got up and ran out of the room.

During the questioning of Hall, detectives said they tried to determine if the stabbing was accidental or intentional. Allegedly, she admitted the stabbing, said she was scared, but also thought it was an accident.

Hall faces a single count of first-degree reckless homicide. She made her initial appearance in Milwaukee County court on October 5. Cash bond was set at $100,000.

Hall is due back in court for a preliminary hearing on October 14.

The last of the inmates who escaped from a prison in New Orleans, Louisiana was caught after a standoff with Atlanta Police on Wednesday afternoon.

On October 8, 2025, officers had surrounded a house in southwest Atlanta, Georgia after receiving information that 28-year-old Derrick Groves may be inside.

Louisiana State Police said on Facebook that the standoff was "brief" and said agencies including the FBI, Homeland Security Investigations, New Orleans Police Department, APD, Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office and others coordinated the effort.

In May 2025, Groves and nine other inmates escaped from the Orleans Justice Center.

"At this time, we are not answering any questions, and I will be in touch immediately when I am able to," said Eric Heinze, U.S. Marshals Service spokesperson.

According to Associated Press reporting from earlier in the year, Groves was convicted by a jury last year of killing two people when he opened fire at a family block party with an assault rifle. The incident arose out of a feud between rival drug dealers.

“He’s got nothing to lose,” Forrest Ladd, an Orleans Parish assistant district attorney who prosecuted Groves, told the AP in July. “That’s a dangerous thing from anybody, much less somebody capable of causing mass harm.”

An argument between a group of girls and an Uber driver ended with a 16-year-old injured in a shooting outside a Waffle House in Dunwoody, Georgia.

Police said she was in critical but stable condition at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

The shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. on October 5, 2025 outside the restaurant at 4532 Chamblee Dunwoody Road.

Police said a group of five girls ordered an Uber to take them home after they finished eating at Waffle House.

When the driver, identified as 38-year-old Meredith Grundy, arrived, he told them he could only take four of them because his car didn’t have have enough room or seatbelts.

Police said the driver and girls got into an argument over who should cancel the trip with Uber.

“The driver said one of the girls attacked him, threatened to kill him,” said Sgt. Michael Cheek, Dunwoody Police Department.

The girls denied the driver’s claims.

Police have charged Grundy with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during a felony.

Cheek said it’s an active investigation as they work to determine the exact sequence of events, including why the girls were out at 2:30 in the morning.

According to the Uber Teen account, a teen can request a trip, but guest riders between 13 and 17 years old must have permission from a parent. All teens must also sit in the backseat.

Uber released the following statement:

“Our thoughts are with the rider as she recovers from this horrifying attack. We removed the driver’s access to the platform as soon as this was reported to us, and we stand ready to support law enforcement with their investigation.”

On October 8, 2025, Acting U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli said:

Today we are announcing the arrest of 29-year-old Jonathan Rinderknecht on a criminal complaint charging him with maliciously starting what became the Palisades Fire in January 2025.

The complaint alleges that Rinderknecht's started a fire in Pacific Palisades on New Year's Day -- a blaze that eventually turned into one of the most destructive fires in Los Angeles, California history, causing death and widespread destruction.

Among the evidence that was collected from his digital devices was an image he generated on ChatGPT depicting a burning city.

While we cannot undo the damage and destruction that was done, we hope his arrest and the charges against him bring some measure of justice to the victims of this horrific tragedy.

Rinderknecht's initial appearance is scheduled for today at 1:30 p.m. EDT in U.S. District Court in Orlando, Florida. Rinderknecht is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

On October 6, 2025 before 11 p.m. , police say officers responded to a residence in Oscoda, Michigan for a shooting. Upon arrival, they found a man with a gunshot wound to his chest. Emergency personnel pronounced the man deceased at 11:13 p.m.

The victim was identified as 31-year-old James Ragen.

His wife, 32-year-old Melissa Ragen, told police she and her husband were arguing when she grabbed a .357-caliber revolver and shot him, according to Iosco County Prosecutor James A. Bacarella.

Police arrested Melissa Ragen and charged her with open murder and felony firearm. Open murder contains first- and second-degree murder, both of which are life offenses, though a conviction of the former negates the possibility of parole.

Melissa Ragen is being held without bond pending a preliminary examination set for 3 p.m. on October 28.

On November 25, 2014, Aaliyah Bell was last seen walking down Chestnut Street near her uncle's home in Rock Hill, South Carolina, two days before Thanksgiving. She has never been heard from again. She left behind her cellular phone, wallet, all her clothes and other belongings. Aaliyah was 18 years old at the time.

Allegedly, a family member wired her $100 on the day of her disappearance so she could go shopping, but she never picked up the money. Since Bell's disappearance she hasn't been active on her social media accounts and hasn't contacted her family, which is uncharacteristic of her behavior.

There were possible sightings of Bell at a motel after her disappearance. She may be in Charlotte or Fayetteville, North Carolina or in Atlanta, Georgia. Bell's loved ones stated she would not have accepted a ride from a stranger or someone she didn't trust. Her family believes she may not have left voluntarily and, if she did, someone or something may be preventing her from returning home; they are concerned for her safety.

Bell was a student at Phoenix Academy on Flint Street at the time of her disappearance; it's a non-traditional high school with a flexible schedule that offers online classes as well as face-to-face instruction twice a week. She attended school on the day of her disappearance. She planned to become a hairsylist after graduation.

Her case remains unsolved.

On September 26, 2025 around 9:40 p.m, police say officers were called to the intersection of W. Howe Street and S. Morton Street in Bloomington, Indiana to investigate reports that a shooting had occurred. BPD said officers encountered a man lying on the ground shortly after arriving on the scene. The victim had suffered a gunshot wound to the left side of his upper torso. Officers immediately provided treatment until the IU Health Ambulance Service and Bloomington Fire Department could assist. Sullivan later died at IU Health Bloomington Hospital that evening.

The victim was identified as 29-year-old Shawn Sullivan.

As officers began to investigate a possible motive behind the deadly shooting, witnesses reportedly told them that Sullivan was walking alongside two females on Howe Street. At some point, these witnesses spotted a dark-colored Volkswagen Passat speeding up directly behind the group. In response, the witnesses said Sullivan reportedly threw a bicycle at the vehicle.

The Bloomington Police Department (BPD) said a man, who they later identified as 26-year-old Stephen Dixon II, then exited the vehicle and allegedly fired one shot at Sullivan. The suspect then re-entered the vehicle and continued driving northbound on Madison Street.

Investigators then sifted through video footage that several businesses in the area had collected to gather evidence. BPD said a gas station located near Kirkwood Avenue and Rogers Street showed a vehicle that appeared to match the given description pulling into the parking lot on the same night of the shooting.

Dixon and a woman identified as 30-year-old Kaila Simms then entered the gas station around 9:24 p.m.. They left several minutes later and continued driving southbound on Rogers Street.

BPD said the man who appeared in the footage matched the description of the suspected shooter that witnesses supplied to police, and the shooting took place minutes after the vehicle left the gas station’s parking lot.

As the investigation developed, BPD continued to receive more tips claiming that Dixon was the alleged shooter. One tip claimed he was also involved in a separate shooting that occurred on Sept. 22 in the 1600 block of N. Willis Drive. Detectives managed to obtain the license plate number of the vehicle allegedly involved, which they determined was registered to Simms.

On October 6, police then began to surveil Dixon and Simms. They reportedly followed as they dropped two children off at an elementary school before parking in a nearby alleyway. Dixon and Simms then traveled south toward Lawrence County, where they stopped at a gas station in Bedford.

It was there that Dixon and Simms were taken into custody without further incident. Police said Dixon was armed with a loaded 9mm Hi-Point handgun.

Allegedly, Dixon admitted during a police interview that he did shoot Sullivan after the victim threw a bike at his vehicle. Dixon said he got out of his car to confront the victim. At this point, he claimed Sullivan began digging into a bag he had with him.

Dixon said he opened fire in response, stating that he attempted to shoot Sullivan in the legs before later finding out he had actually shot him in the chest, court documents said. He also admitted that the firearm authorities confiscated at the time of his arrest was the weapon he used.

Dixon was transported to the Monroe County Jail, where he faces the following preliminary charges:

- Murder
- Two counts of Unlawful Carrying of a Handgun (Level 5 Felony)
- Criminal Recklessness (Level 5 Felony)

Meanwhile, Simms was preliminarily charged with neglect of a dependent, which is a level 6 felony. This charge was filed by police after they learned that she continued to have her children around Dixon despite knowing he was allegedly involved in two separate shootings.

‼️TRIGGER WARNING‼️On October 7, 2025, authorities in Florida arrested a 21-year-old man for s*x crimes involving children and animals.

The Miami Police Department’s Special Victims Unit (SVU) said Osher Joshua Pittman was rearrested on two counts of capital s*xual battery involving the same minor victim, which they said was an infant about 2 to 3 months old.

The arrest took place after an ongoing investigation that began with Pittman’s original arrest for a similar offense against an 8-year-old child in Miami.

After the initial arrest, SVU detectives said they investigated a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

Officials said the tip led to the discovery of child s*xual abuse material found on Pittman’s cellphone and laptop, which resulted in additional charges and his arrest.

Detectives said they found more than 100 images depicting various instances of child s*xual abuse, including be******ty.

Detectives said they reviewed four seized videos, uncovering evidence of additional horrific acts against a 3-month-old victim in what appeared to be Pittman’s bedroom. Officials said the victim is now 11 months old.

Officials said the videos were recorded between February and March of this year.

Detectives said they contacted the mother of the victim, who confirmed that the victim was her child and that the room seen in the videos was Pittman’s. The mother told police she would leave her child with Pittman’s mother from time to time when she had to work.

Authorities said Pittman now faces two counts of capital s*xual battery, along with other charges, related to the 11-month-old victim.

Officials said the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with additional information related to the case is urged to contact the Miami Police Department’s SVU at (305) 603-6300 or Crimes Stoppers of Miami-Dade & the Florida Keys anonymously at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
