On August 4, 2025 at about 6:55 p.m., police say a civilian called 911 to report a residence in the 1800 block of Erie Street in Saginaw, Michigan had been shot up with a 1-year-old struck by at least one bullet. The caller said they were taking the wounded boy to a hospital. A second caller reported a shooting in the 3200 block of Robinwood Avenue.

A few moments later, the 1-year-old and a wounded 25-year-old man arrived at Covenant HealthCare in a privately owned vehicle, driven by the toddler’s mother. Police went to the hospital and relayed to dispatchers one of the victims suffered a gunshot wound to his head, the other to his back. The adult was admitted in critical condition, while the toddler died.

The victim was identified as 1-year-old Alonzo Mallett III.

Police did not release additional details, such as the 25-year-old man’s connection to Alonzo or how many shots were fired. Detectives with the Saginaw Major Crimes Unit are actively investigating the matter and interviewing witnesses in hopes of developing a suspect.

On July 3, 2025, Maryland State Fire Marshal (MSFM), investigators from the Office of the State Fire Marshal and the Salisbury Fire Department (SFD) rushed to the 300 block of Penn Street in Salisbury, Maryland after reports of a fire.

Upon arrival, authorities said the homeowner told investigators that Janice Louise Oney, someone he had known for several years, became upset after demanding $7 she claimed he owed her.

Following a brief altercation, Oney allegedly left and came back minutes later with a bottle of gasoline, setting the front door on fire before fleeing the area on a bicycle. The homeowner put out the flames himself with an extinguisher.

MSFM officials said with the help of K9 "Deacon," investigators confirmed the fire was intentionally set, and found several pieces of evidence, including surveillance footage from nearby businesses that tied Oney to the incident.

On August 1, a warrant for Oney's arrest was issued, and she was arrested later that evening. Oney was taken to the Wicomico County Detention Center and was held without bond following an appearance before a District Court Commissioner.

Oney was charged with first- and second-degree arson, first-degree malicious burning, malicious destruction of property over $1,000, reckless endangerment, and theft under $100.

On October 26, 2024, police say officers were called to Children’s Mercy Hospital to investigate an assault that occurred on Northwest Milrey Drive, near Northwest 80th Street in Parkville, Missouri. Upon arrival, detectives were notified that the infant had sustained a brain bleed, along with multiple other severe injuries. The child died on November 5. The investigation was upgraded to a homicide.

The victim was identified as 2-month-old Mateo Rideout.

Detectives interviewed the victim’s mother, who stated on October 25, she and Adrian Horton took the child to Horton’s parents’ house so she and Horton could go grocery shopping. Upon returning, Horton was changing the baby’s diaper when Horton’s mothers told him to stop being rough and aggressive with the baby.

The mother said back at home and on October 26, the baby woke up and began to get fussy. She got out of bed, made a bottle and gave it to the child in his bassinette located next to her bed. The child drank an ounce and began to play with it, so she took the bottle from him and laid back down for about an hour.

During that hour, the mother said the baby was making noises and appeared to be fine. Later that morning, he became fussy and started to cry. The mother woke Horton up and asked him to change the baby while she used the restroom. As Horton got up, the mother heard him say in a frustrated tone, “why you always crying bro?”

Allegedly, as the mother was walking into the bathroom, she saw Horton remove the baby from the bassinet, walk out of the room, then she heard Horton slam the door. She was finishing up using the bathroom when she heard a loud patting noise coming from the other room. When the patting noise eased, she heard Horton yell her name and for her to come to the room. She took the child from Horton and noticed him gasping for air. She told Horton to call 911, and the child was taken to the hospital by EMS to be evaluated.

The mother told detectives Horton was always frustrated or annoyed when he had to do anything with the baby.

Horton’s account of what happened with the baby allegedly changed several times. At one point, he said after he changed the baby’s diaper, the baby started to choke. He tried to rub on the baby’s chest, then realized the child was gasping for air. Horton started to apply more pressure then started performing CPR “the adult way.” When he was performing CPR on the child, that is when he called the mother into the room. Horton said, “I might have used a little more force than I should have.”

In June 2025, detectives received a final report back from Forensic Medical of Kansas City and Topeka. The cause of death was labeled as complications of blunt force trauma to head and neck – and ruled the death as a homicide.

On August 1, Horton was charged with one count of first-degree endanger the welfare of a child.

On July 27, 2025, police say officers responded to the intersection of Highway 77 and Highway 180 in Holbrook, Arizona for reports of an unresponsive child. Upon arrival, police found a girl suffering from serious injuries and was taken to the hospital. Shortly after, she was flown to Phoenix Children’s Hospital, where she died on July 30.

The victim was identified as 10-year-old Rebekah Baptiste.

Investigations led detectives to arrest her father, 32-year-old Richard Baptiste and 29-year-old Anicia Woods, a woman he was romantically involved with.

In court, prosecutors said they had extensive documentation from doctors, detailing the abuse. They said Rebekah was malnourished and dehydrated. One doctor explained used the word “torture” to describe what happened to her.

On August 4, during a court hearing, prosecutors said Rebekah was missing toenails, had bruises all over her body, and had been starved. “The above findings are highly concerning for child physical abuse, sexual abuse and torture, which is a surprisingly shocking strong word for a medical doctor,” said the prosecutor.

According to school staff, Rebekah and her two brothers attended Empower Prep for three years before recently moving to Apache County with their father and Woods. During that time, school leaders said they filed at least 12 reports to DCS, raising red flags about physical and emotional abuse, neglect, and signs of malnourishment.

Natalina Mariscal, the school’s director of Student Services, said the signs were clear: unexplained bruises, black eyes, and frequent hunger. She said she contacted DCS repeatedly, often being told on at least four separate occasions the case would be escalated or followed up on—yet no meaningful action seemed to be taken.

The couple both face first-degree murder, child abuse and kidnapping charges. They are each being held on $1 million bond.

On August 4, 2025 just after 10 a.m., police say a shooting occurred outside AutoZone on Broadway Avenue in Bedford, Ohio. Upon arrival, they found a woman unresponsive. EMS transported her to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The victim was identified as 20-year-old Riley Jones.

Police say witnesses ran for cover and called 911 for help.

“I am at the Bedford AutoZone. I just watched a guy shoot a girl,” one caller said. “I heard the gunshot and stepped around the truck and he’s standing there over her with the gun.

Investigators said after the shooting, the gunman walked into the store and told employees to call 911.

They said he walked back outside, stood over Jones and then fled on foot, but he was arrested one street over by officers responding to the scene.

The suspect was identified as 22-year-old Darien Hobley.

Bedford Police Deputy Chief Rick Suts said Jones and Hobley were arguing in the parking lot of the store and shot Jones once in the chest.

Hobley had blood on his clothes when he was arrested.

Police said a close friend of Jones was with her at the time, witnessed the shooting and did everything she could to save her friend’s life after Hobley opened fire without warning.

On August 5, Hobley pleaded not guilty to an aggravated murder charge at his arraignment in Bedford Municipal Court and bond was set at $2 million.

On August 4, 2025 shortly after midnight, sheriff's say deputies responded to a 911 call at Silver Point and County Road 220 in Middleburg, Florida. The call first came in from a teenage boy saying he just killed his parents and was surrendering himself at a church. Upon arrival, deputies found a man and woman inside both dead from gunshot wounds.

The victims were identified as 44-year-old David Lee and 45-year-old Brandi Smith.

The teenager, identified as 14-year-old Trevor Lee, was arrested. He was taken into custody in the parking lot of the church without incident.

David Lee and Brandi were found dead in the bedroom of their home. Both had been shot multiple times, and several spent shell casings were found in the bedroom.

Clay County Sheriff Michelle Cook said it appears Trevor Lee got into an argument with his parents Sunday night that ended in the deadly shooting. The weapon, which is believed to belong to the couple, was found in the home.

The 911 dispatcher remained on the phone with Trevor Lee until the Sheriff’s Office units arrived at the church. She encouraged him to tell the investigators what happened.

She can be heard telling a Trevor Lee that the deputies had been asked not to point guns at him when they got to the church.

“Take a deep breath because they’re going to come up and talk to you, so you need to be listening for them, OK?” the dispatcher says.

“Yes, ma’am,” Trevor Lee responds.

Earlier in the call, Trevor Lee told the dispatcher he needed to pray before deputies arrived, and then he asked her to pray for him.

“I was gonna ask if you could pray for me, ma’am,” Trevor Lee said.

“I’ll definitely be praying for you, son,” she replies.

Trevor Lee is charged with two counts of second-degree murder in the death of his parents. He was later taken to Duval County’s Juvenile Detention Center. Clay County does not have a juvenile wing in its jail.

On August 2, 2025, at approximately 12:22 p.m., police say officers responded to a 911 call reporting an unconscious female with apparent physical trauma at a residence on Upper Kingtown Road in Franklin Township, New Jersey. Upon arrival, officers observed two deceased individuals who exhibited apparent gunshot wounds from a semiautomatic firearm, in what investigators have confirmed was a targeted act.

The victims were identified as 33-year-old Lauren Semanchik and 29-year-old Tyler Webb.

During a thorough investigation, Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office detectives learned that on August 1 at approximately 7:08 p.m., Hunterdon County Communications received 911 calls reporting audible gunshots and screaming in the area of Upper Kingtown Road, to which the Franklin Township Police Department responded, checked the area, but did not locate the source of the gunshots or screaming.

As the investigation continued, detectives learned that Semanchik, a local veterinarian, and Webb recently began dating. Semanchik previously dated Ricardo Jorge Santos, a lieutenant of the New Jersey State Police. After ending her relationship with Santos in approximately September 2024, Semanchik alleged that Santos engaged in continued harassing and controlling behavior. As a result, it appeared to detectives that Santos may have been involved in the homicides.

As this information was being developed, detectives were notified that Santos was found deceased alone and inside a white 2008 Mercedes SUV in Johnson Park in Piscataway, Middlesex County. Further investigation revealed that Santos suffered from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, which the Office of the Middlesex County Medical Examiner has preliminarily determined to be a su***de. A semiautomatic handgun was also located inside the vehicle.

As the investigation progressed, detectives further learned that Semanchik installed a video surveillance recording system in her vehicle, which detectives accessed and carefully reviewed.

In relevant part, the footage depicts Semanchik’s vehicle departing her place of employment in Long Valley, Morris County on August 1, 2025 at approximately 5:25 p.m. The footage from the vehicle’s rear shows a white 2008 Mercedes SUV leaving a parking space and closely following Semanchik from Long Valley to Upper Kingtown Road until she turns into her driveway at approximately 5:57 p.m. At approximately 6:11 p.m., while Semanchik’s vehicle is parked, an
individual is seen surreptitiously walking through the wooded area along the driveway leading up to the residence. And at approximately 6:45 p.m., Webb’s vehicle arrives at the residence and parks next to Semanchik’s vehicle.

Detectives also discovered that the same white 2008 Mercedes SUV that followed Semanchik’s vehicle and in which Santos’ deceased body was found, traveled to Piscataway later that evening.

Anyone with information relating to this investigation is asked to contact Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office Detective Sergeant David Petelle or Detective Quayshaun Brooks at (908)
788-1129. Information may also be provided through the Hunterdon County Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 1-800-321-0010. All anonymous reports and Crime Stopper tips will be kept

‼️SUSPECT AT LARGE‼️

On March 4, 2024 at 11:43 p.m., police say officers responded to a 911 call at 448 Herricks Lane in Riverhead, New York. Upon arrival, officers found a man with a sharp force injury inside a residence on the property. He was transported by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Peconic Bay Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The victim was identified as 36-year-old Conrad Gowan.

On August 4, 2025, a Crime Stoppers alert was put out for the 53-year-old Majorie Quarrie. Suffolk police say she entered Gowan's ground-floor apartment before stabbing him in the neck in a violent rage of passion.

"We believe that Quarrie learned that day that she was not Gowan's only girlfriend, she had driven out to Queens that day to see him, driven from Queens to Jamesport, there was another girl in his apartment, she was turned away, she came back, a fight ensued and she stabbed him in the neck," said Suffolk County Police Dept. Homicide Detective Lt. Kevin Beyrer.

A warrant for second-degree murder has been issued for her arrest.

"Quarrie is a native of Jamaica, she has family and prior addresses in Saint Albans, Hollis, and Jamaica, Queens," Beyrer said.

Police believe she is working as a home health aide, likely for cash, and is moving around basement apartments in Queens.

Police have no released multiple photos of Quarrie, who is known to frequently change her appearance, including using wigs.

Investigators say she has prior arrests for grand larceny and drug sales. There is a warrant out for her arrest on a second degree murder charge.

Officials are asking anyone with information to contact police at 1(800)220-TIPS.

UPDATE: On August 1, 2025, a Georgia man was convicted of killing his live-in girlfriend and her teenage son and locking them in a bedroom while he tried to flee to Mexico.

William Jerome Adams was found guilty of two counts of felony murder and two counts of aggravated assault for the March 2021 shooting deaths of 39-year-old Mary Lindsay and 15-year-old Atif Muhammad, Jr. Adams was ordered to serve two consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole.

“The verdict and sentence are fitting for a defendant who violently took the life of a mother and son and stole from them,” District Attorney Patsy Austin-Gatson said. “We mourn with the victims’ family and hope that the outcome of the trial gives them some closure and justice.”

On March 26, 2021, Lindsay’s oldest daughter was called to the house in Buford by her mother’s friend to check on Lindsay, who had not been heard from in several days. The 19-year-old daughter and her 15-year-old sister who was a twin of Muhammad, lived apart from their mother. The older sister had to crawl through a window to get into the house. There, she found her 8-year-old brother asleep in their mother’s bedroom. She eventually found her mother and brother dead inside a locked bedroom in the home and called police. Lindsay and Muhammad were killed on March 24, police determined, and the 8-year-old boy had been alone in the home and unaware of the deaths for two days.

Investigators found three 9mm shell casings inside the room where Lindsay and Muhammad were discovered and were able to match the shell casing to ammunition found in the master bedroom. A warrant for 29-year-old Adams’ arrest was placed. Within a day, Police in Laredo, Texas, called to report that Adams was arrested after he attempted to cross the border into Mexico on an assumed name and without a passport. Investigators also determined that Adams took $2,000 from Lindsay’s bank account.

During trial, Muhammad’s twin sister testified that 10 days before the shooting, the siblings discovered a 9mm Luger handgun in their mother’s room and took a picture of it. The daughter testified that when they questioned Lindsay about the weapon, the mother confirmed that it belonged to Adams.

The jury also heard testimony that Adams had a controlling nature and was abusive to Lindsay. Prosecutors presented a photo that Lindsay emailed to herself documenting an arm injury that Adams gave her.

On June 20, 2025 just after 5 a.m., police say officers were called to the parking lot of Motel 6 in the 12700 block of LBJ Freeway in Garland, Texas for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital where he died the next day.

The victim was identified as 48-year-old Santiago Lopez Morales.

The investigation revealed two of the suspects were involved in a robbery around 2 a.m. at another motel in the 3600 block of Leon Road.

Allegedly, there were four witnesses who were questioned by police at the scene. All four arrived at the motel with the victim, in the same vehicle.

One of those witnesses allegedly had been robbed at another hotel. Investigators said the woman told Morales about the incident and Morales started messaging with the suspects and posing as a pr******te. A meeting was set up at Motel 6.

Detectives then reviewed surveillance video. There were several video clips that showed the events surrounding the shooting.

At 4:21 a.m., the pickup enters the motel parking lot and eventually backs into a parking spot on the south side of the complex, where it stayed throughout the entirety of the incident.

At 4:47 a.m., a Toyota sedan enters the motel parking lot and parks on the east side of the complex.

At 4:54 a.m., a gray Acura backed into a parking spot in the nearby Denny's parking lot.

At 5:03 a.m., the Toyota moves from one parking spot to another, but stays on the east side of the complex.

At 5:07 a.m., a Hispanic male (Suspect 1) gets out of the Toyota and walks to the south side of the complex.

At 5:09 a.m., Suspect 1 is seen walking in the middle of the complex and has his phone up to his ear.

At 5:09 a.m., Suspect 1 arrives in front of room 137 and knocks on the door. He continues to knock and is seen using his phone as he stands in front of the door for several minutes.

At 5:13 a.m., a man dressed in security guard attire, who is now identified as Morales, gets out of the pickup from the front passenger side door with a gun in his right hand and approaches Suspect 1, while pointing a gun at him. As Morales gets close to the other male, he grabs Suspect 1, and they begin wrestling in front of room 139.

Two other males get out of the pickup and approach the men wrestling. They noticed a man getting out of the passenger side of the Acura (Suspect 2) and began throwing rocks at Suspect 2.

Suspect 2 pointed a gun at the two men who were throwing rocks at him, then ran up to Morales and Suspect 1, who were still wrestling, and pointed the gun at Morales.

A muzzle flash is allegedly seen in the video, then Morales falls to the ground.

As this was happening, the driver of the Acura, Suspect 3, pulled out of the parking spot and up to the area of the shooting.

Suspect 1 and Suspect 2 then jumped into the Acura to leave. Then the Toyota backs out of its parking spot and follows the Acura out of the complex.

As the vehicles are leaving the parking lot, Morales "lies motionless on the ground and is seen bleeding profusely."

The two men who were throwing rocks ran out of the camera's view and then returned to the pickup later.

The officer reports he then saw two females get out of the pickup and one approached Morales' body.

The officers say the witnesses were all seen wandering around and one of the females is seen talking on the phone, presumably calling 911.

The first officer arrives on the scene at 5:19 a.m. and begins administering first aid to the victim.

As detectives interviewed the witnesses at the scene they connected the shooting with an earlier aggravated robbery in Garland.

Ties to Deluxe Inn Aggravated Robbery
Detectives reviewed surveillance of an aggravated robbery at the Deluxe Inn at 3635 Leon Rd. in Garland from about three hours before the shooting at Motel 6.

Detectives report the same Acura and Toyota from the Motel 6 shooting were at the Deluxe Inn around 2 a.m.

The Deluxe Inn victim reported two Hispanic males banging on the door. When she opened the door, they forced their way inside, displaying a handgun, pointed it at her head and ordered her to sit down.

She told police the men then forced her into the bathroom, made her undress, assaulted her, took her earrings, cash, a gold medallion and the victim's ID card. They ordered her to stay in the bathroom and they left. She told police she waited 30 minutes before calling the police. She confirmed the men who robbed her were the same men seen in the surveillance from the Motel 6 shooting.

On July 31, Garland detectives arrested 20-year-old Yosguar Aponte Jimenez, 23-year-old Jesus De Nazareth Bellorin-Guzman, and 25-year-old Jose Luis Trivino-Cruz.

The men admitted to investigators that they would arrange meetings with pr******tes in order to rob them of their money and valuables. Jimenez told police that the trio has performed more than 25 robberies. Jimenez told police the group targeted pr******tes because they were less likely to report them to the police.

Trivino-Cruz told police the trio had robbed two other people before the shooting.

Jimenez has been charged with capital murder and his bond has been set at $1,500,000.

Bellorin-Guzman has been charged with capital murder and aggravated robbery. His combined bond is set at $2,250,000.

Trivino-Cruz has been charged with capital murder, aggravated robbery and indecent assault. His combined bond is set at $3,255,000.

All three suspects are being held in the Dallas County Jail and each is being held on an immigration hold.

Anyone with additional information is urged to contact the Garland Police Department at 972-485-4840.
