The attacker, posing as a delivery man, asked for her by name before fatally shooting her—raising suspicions of a targeted hit. Her final chilling words: “Maybe they were going to kill me…”

The video has gone viral, igniting outrage and mourning across Latin America. Authorities are investigating it as a possible femicide, with rumors of jealousy, rivalry, or cartel involvement. No arrests have been made.

Breaking News (as of May 14, 2025): I just got off the phone with a Rite Aid representative and confirmed that the company has filed for bankruptcy for the second time in less than two years, citing ongoing financial challenges and a rapidly changing retail and healthcare landscape.

Rite Aid previously filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in October 2023, emerging a few months later as a private company. Unfortunately, continued losses, mounting debt, and costly legal battles—especially related to opioid prescriptions—have led to this second filing.

This time, the company is seeking to sell off all of its assets, including retail stores and distribution centers, in hopes of streamlining operations and reducing debt. Store closures are likely, though the company has stated it plans to keep locations open in the short term while it explores asset sales.

A local pharmacist confirmed that while business continues as usual for now, the future of Rite Aid employees remains uncertain. Some staff may be retained under new ownership, while others could face layoffs. Customers should be aware they may eventually need to transfer their prescriptions elsewhere—but for now, you can still ask your provider to send prescriptions to Rite Aid.
