As a public figure, I feel compelled to address recent developments affecting the LGBTQ+ community.

The executive order signed by President Trump upon his inauguration, which enforces a binary classification of gender and restricts access to gender-affirming healthcare, is deeply concerning. This policy not only undermines the identities of transgender and non-binary individuals but also poses significant risks to their well-being.

In contrast, previous leaders have recognized the importance of inclusivity and equality. For instance, President Obama, in his 2015 address following the Supreme Court’s decision on marriage equality, stated, “This ruling will strengthen all of our communities by offering to all loving same-sex couples the dignity of marriage across this great land.”

It’s disheartening to witness a regression in policies that affect the LGBTQ+ community. We must continue to advocate for a society where everyone, regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation, is treated with dignity and respect.

I stand in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community and will continue to support efforts that promote equality and acceptance for all.

In light of these events, I have made the difficult decision to evacuate Los Angeles for my safety.
