Anyone need a drink???? I know I do! 🍹

Tonight at 9pm, my report from vintage bars part 3 airs on . Tonight I’ll be featuring historic destinations on the west side such as , established in 1934, making THE GALLEY the oldest restaurant and bar in Santa Monica. And OF COURSE , which opened in 1957. Chez Jay is still operated under the management of his family, serving as a vestige of Old Hollywood in Santa Monica. You’ve seen it on the TV series Goliath” with that old mid century motel called across the way. Both establishments features nautical themes. And we take a trip to Play Del Rey to the HARBOR ROOM, one of the smallest bars in the country. All three are just a stones throw away from the beach. Check it out on spectrum tonight at 9. You can also watch it on the Spectrum App. I’m excited to feature these vintage destinations and super proud of this informative series this past year.

Tonight on my report on the history & future of the old Westside Pavilion airs at 9pm. I recall years of shopping here in the 80s and 90s. Especially for back to school clothes. Back then it was so popular it was used for movies and music videos such as “Beverly Hills 90210, and Tom Petty’s FREE FALLIN’

Tom’s lyrics may have been a glimpse into the future because by the 2000s, many malls across the country were in free fall and permanently closing. We may be experiencing “dead mall” culture, but thankfully this structure has been saved and is becoming a new medical hub owned by UCLA. Their goal is to help reshape the future of science innovation & exploration. Parts of the structure will also be transformed into a cultural and performance space as part of the UCLA Research Park. Bravo!!! 👏

Thank you to of the for talking with me about the Pavillion’s history and to Doctor Roger Wakimoto, UCLA’S Vice Chancellor For Research, who gave me exclusive access into the building currently under construction. When I walked in my jaw kind of dropped. So many memories came flooding back. Take a look at these historic photos from the 1980s. Most of them courtesy of Mark Furcick.

“One Hickory Burger coming right up!”

Tomorrow night at 9pm, don’t miss my report from the world famous at 9pm. The Apple Pan is a staple in this town. Where you have to choose between Roberto or Hector’s side of the counter and where their food still reigns supreme since 1947. I’m grateful to be in a position to report from historic establishments, while celebrating their individual legacies. The is now owned by Irving & Shelli Azoff. They’re heroes for saving these old beloved establishments.
