social media has a funny way of showing you all the highlights while leaving out everything happening underneath the surface.

for a while, i’ve been navigating grief in ways i never really expected. lately there have been moments where i’ve felt like i completely lost myself.

one of the strangest parts of grief has been learning how to let myself be happy again. sometimes feeling like yourself again almost feels like something you’re not allowed to do, like being okay somehow takes away from what you’ve lost.

but i’m learning that grief and joy can exist in the same place. you can miss what was, you can hurt deeply. you can have really hard days but still have a beautiful life. you can lose pieces of yourself. but you can meet new versions of yourself too.

i’m still figuring it out. but i’m really grateful for the people who have held me close while i do.

and if you’re somewhere in the middle of it too, there really are brighter days ahead ❤️
