Sometimes it’s difficult not to be a little disheartened at how many people haven’t responded to the film campaign. It’s against my nature to ask for help with anything but I believe this film is powerful and those working on it deserve to see it made.

It’s teaching me a lot about those I know and have worked with doing a crowdfunding campaign. Trust me, it’s difficult to ask anyone to contribute but this is the last post requesting you guys join me in doing something that really matters - to me and a whole lot of others struggling with thoughts of su***de, or those who know someone who has taken their own life. This world needs a voice of compassion and that’s what this movie is. A letter of hope to those who wonder if their life matters ... and it does.

Women only make up 4% of film directors in Hollywood. We’re changing that. I have written forever but the desire to direct was one I knew I had to be ready for. I’m ready! I need everyone I’ve ever supported along the way from film to editorial to please join me and be a part of the crowdfunding campaign for “Spiraling”. My two leads are both women of color who are so talented I’m in awe, and my crew consists of men and women who are such talented people. And while the budget is small (for filming in LA), it has to be met so we can get this made and on the road to the Oscars (that’s the hope).

That said, I have to give a huge thank you to my friend Fernanda Espíndola for contributing to the campaign, for believing in my vision, and for being so supportive of my writing career (going to write a feature for her next year), and to Apryl Levine for contributing to the indiegogo campaign and always being in my corner. I’ve known Apryl since junior high school!

I’m lucky to have these women in my life and in my corner, and grateful they have supported me along this journey.

Anyone who knows me knows how much I hate asking for help with anything. I’m way too proud so know this is tough to do-but the project is one worth supporting, one worth bringing to life — and a film that I can promise you’ll be proud to have contributed to.

So know that the price of two Starbucks coffees can go a long way with this film. Contributions start at $10.
