just sharing some gems 💎

a few months ago I had the honor of speaking to the student recipients of the LA Wildfire Scholarship presented by Thrive Causemetics as a mentor for Mentor Day. and my team at Nebbi App were so generous in donating app subscriptions to each of the students.

I thought I was just going to talk to them about Nebbi, but when they asked me to also share some words as they move forward in their professional and educational journeys, I had to really think… what do I wish someone had told me when I was their age?

and this is what I came up with.

and I chose 8 intentionally. 8 is one of my favorite numbers. it represents wealth, and that’s what I want for all of us, whether that’s money, knowledge, wisdom or all three.

here’s three things I wish someone told me when I first started working in entertainment:

1. track every single $ you earn and spend
2. put money aside for taxes, (don’t skip this)
3. get a business bank account and keep it separate from your personal

before this month ends, I have to take a moment to thank Thrive Causemetics for having me be a part ‘Mentor Day’ earlier this month!

this special day was created to support the recipients of their Los Angeles Wildfire Recovery Scholarship, a scholarship presented to 10 students whose lives were affected by the LA wildfires last January.

what made this day even more special was that I got to present the students with a 6-month free subscription to Nebbi App, a mental wellness app to promote daily check-ins and prevent burnout; a simple tool that can be used on those days when you just need a moment to ask yourself “how am I feeling, really?”
