Deadbeat Club Press Deadbeat Club is an independent photobook publisher & coffee roaster based in Los Angeles.

Established in 2011 by Clint Woodside, Deadbeat Club is an independent publishing group & coffee roaster located in Los Angeles, California. Rooted in contemporary photography, our ethos on small run, limited edition publications carries into our small batch single origin, signature blend and limited release coffees. Each Deadbeat Club project is selected with the expectation of collaboration and a longstanding partnership. Working closely with photographers and artists around the world, making sure their original vision is never compromised, we produce a body of work that we are proud to share with our community. Likewise, our extension into coffee is another way to facilitate community and enhance the photobook experience. Each bean is chosen for taste as well as its positive impact on the local farm community, with quality & traceability at the forefront. Roasted without natural gas and without harmful emissions, we aim to make a positive impact with a good cup of coffee that feels good to purchase.

TOMORROW in Mar Vista LA, please join us for Ian Bates "The Weight Of Ash" at Meier St/, an exciting installation in a historic venue. A meditation on nature, destruction, beauty and renewal, Bates's images take on new layers when set within the context of the historic Gregory Ain Mar Vista Tract - the home itself in the midst of ongoing restoration & rebirth.

Meier St / is a unique art space for exhibitions, stage performances, music and collaboration, and it is also a private home! ☝🏽Viewing is limited, so don't miss this opportunity to check it out. Plus, we'll be serving up some refreshing Deadbeat Club cold brew.

PRESALE: Andrew. 's "Avalanche" is now available for presale, both Standard & Special Editions.

Set entirely within his father's house, Andrew D. McClees’s Avalanche unfolds into an atmosphere of nocturnal claustrophobia, where tightly cropped photographs transform ordinary interiors into a fragmented psychological landscape.

Returning to the home he left after adolescence, McClees draws from memories of isolation, neglect, and depersonalization without ever settling into straightforward autobiography. Instead, through visual construction, he abstracts the domestic space into an immersive environment where reality and fabrication quietly dissolve into one another, creating an interior world that functions less as a document than as a site of psychological confrontation and reenactment.

The viewer, in turn, is drawn into this unstable terrain, navigating a world suspended between familiarity and estrangement, where seemingly ordinary rooms gradually give way to an atmosphere of latent tension.

Printed with metallic silver ink on black paper, the photographs exude an inner glow, deepening the book's otherworldly atmosphere and its unsettling sense of disorientation.

PRESALE: Taylor Galloway 's "across the street from Heaven" is now available for presale in both Standard & Special Editions.

"Taylor spent more than a decade making this work and getting to know a family that, until he made his first trips to Hartwood with a camera, had mostly existed in the memories and stories of his grandmother and mother. This, he eventually discovered, was also his world, his family. These are people who allowed him to complete the picture of who he was and where he came from. Every expansion of the definition of family, every branch of the family tree that you venture out on, has the potential to introduce you to a new version of yourself, to expand not just your understanding, but your world, your place in the world." - excerpt from 'A Home In The World' by Brad Zellar

With respectful devotion, Galloway’s photographs attend to the land, the people, and the quiet rhythms of time. They speak of changing seasons, aging bodies, familiar rooms steeped in memory, of the grace found in shared moments, and of a renewed optimism as the next generation takes up the torch.

In the end, "across the street from Heaven" is not about preserving the past, but about that which anchors the promise of a future, and the certainty of having found one's way home.
