We changed the dates of the class. Check it out.

Kind of last minute, but we’re running a new round of XPression CG classes at CGLA Studios (North Hollywood California).

BEGINNING XPRESSION CLASS
Monday, November 10
Tuesday, November 11
10 AM to 5 PM

A hands-on introduction covering setup, template building, animation fundamentals, credit rolls, sequencer use, and an introduction to Transition Logic and visual logic.

INTERMEDIATE / ADVANCED XPRESSION CLASS
Wednesday, November 12
10 AM to 5 PM

For users already comfortable in XPression. We’ll dive into advanced scene design, scripting, Transition Logic, Dashboard setup, Tessera integration, and workflow optimization for broadcast and sports production.

Today is a crazy day for CGLA Studios. We are live on Netflix for Dinner Time Live at 7pm ET where we are supplying two 4k CG systems. In addition to the on-air graphics we are doing live voting for the show, go vote!

We are also live at 8pm ET for the premiere of Dancing with the Stars supplying 3 Ross Video XPression systems and also live at 8pm ET for America’s Got Talent with another .

Tune into one of these great shows and vote on each show.

Another great Emmy Red Carpet show yesterday. Always a pleasure working with , Chris Henderson, and in the graphics room. We used three character generators for the six hours live on E!

30 years ago I worked my first red carpet. 20 years ago was my first E! Red Carpet. 16 years ago I asked Brian Q. if he’d rent Deko machines from me if I bought them. He said “maybe.” I bought them, he rented them, and CGLA Studios was born.

From there, I’d pitch Brian, he’d refine and bring it to his boss Gary S., who embraced the innovation. Gary and Brian’s support helped CGLA adapt to every new wave - live tweets, live Instagram video posts, AR, and now AI - and together we pushed those ideas all the way onto E! top shows.

It’s a bitter sweet day, but full of fond memories from all the years.

For the 2025 Met Gala Red Carpet broadcast, E! turned to us at CGLA Studios to deliver real-time Augmented Reality that brought the red carpet to life on-air and this video shows some of the results.

Using Getty Images stills taken just seconds after celebrities stepped onto the carpet, we processed them in real time and had them playing back as AR moments within minutes. The pipeline was built in Unreal Engine. We prepped 45 different celebrities, with 18 making it to air.

In addition to delivering the AR, CGLA Studios also provided the Ross Video XPression systems for all insert graphics, and developed both the data integration and the full XPression template package used in the broadcast.

We’re currently working on a full behind-the-scenes video that will walk through how we pulled this off from start to finish.

With the help of our on-site partners Jitacam and , real-time tracking via Mo-Sys StarTracker, and compositing by Zero Density, the entire workflow ran seamlessly during the live E! broadcast.

On Friday, CGLA dropped off 15 more donated computers to IATSE Local 800 – Art Directors Guild. These are going directly to members who lost their homes in the recent LA wildfires.

We’re still collecting and distributing computers to anyone affected, union or not.
