Charlize Theron is a South African–born American actress and filmmaker, born on August 7, 1975, in Benoni, South Africa. She rose to international prominence in the late 1990s with roles in films such as The Devil’s Advocate and earned an Academy Award for her transformative portrayal of serial killer Aileen Wuornos in Monster (2003). Beyond her acting career, Theron is a dedicated humanitarian and activist, having founded the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project to combat HIV/AIDS and promote gender equality in Southern Africa.
