I'd like to tell a little story about what happened with the DNA and GALAXIS soundtracks. One day I got a phone call from Christopher Stone, the composer. He said he didn't have a copy of the scores and as the director of the two films I seemed to be the only person who had the original digital audio backup of them. He asked if I could give him a copy because someone was interested in releasing the soundtracks. I gave him a copy and told him not to give it to anyone until he determined his ownership rights to it. He said he felt good about them and gave them the copies only to later find out he had no ownership rights to the soundtracks. So they have now been released and I am happy to have them out there to listen to the amazing job Christopher did on these two films of mine. Go to the link and you can play the two main titles of the films, I thought they did a really nice job of creating new posters of the soundtracks. Thanks, William Mesa.

Out now on 4k Ultra HD HDR blu ray is a remastered edition of "Outland" (4k restoration from the original 35mm negative). The disc features many brand new featurettes including an interview with William Mesa (conducted by film historian Howard S. Berger) about the Introvision process and working on the VFX on the film. Check it out!

Very deeply saddened to hear about what happened to Rob Reiner. We had a good time doing "Stand By Me" He was very enthusiastic about seeing the steam coming out of the train and was telling the conductor "More steam more steam" but the conductor didn't tell us that by doing that he was bleeding the breaks so he couldnt stop and wound up mowing down our VistaVision camera. I think Dave Stump said Holly Hell .Luckily it just crushed the lens mount and we were back to working a few days later. He did hire me and Introvision for "The Princess Bride" and I broke down the vfx work and the many things we were gonna do on the film. Unfortunately at the time the British had a rule on keeping Americans from working on British films and we were bounced off the movie. I am so sad to hear this horrible news about his passing. - William Mesa.

This is the original filmed ending for the 1996 film "DNA" starring Mark Dacascos and Jürgen Prochnow. After several test screenings, it was decided (by William Mesa and producer Patrick Choi) that the Wessinger character played by Prochnow would be killed off in the complex explosion earlier in the film to allow Dacascos character Ash to have the final conflict with the creature on his own. Originally, as seen in this footage, he fought Wessinger and the alien. This cut also extended the final shot between Ash and Claire (played by Robin McKee) to allow them to kiss, something not in the original version. This scene (originally edited by Edward R. Abroms) has been re-assembled by Lincoln Kupchak from the video daily tapes using a reference video of the original audience screening version. As it was never finished, the sequence is missing final sound effects and music (with the exception of the last few shots that are using the score) and contains rough production sound that makes some of it hard to hear. We did do some rough color correction on these tapes. Hope you enjoy seeing the original ending, please leave your comments.

I just wanted to give an update on where our WALKERS short is right now. We have won a number of international and local competitions . In addition, we have 17 semi-finalists that have not announced winners yet and we have a number of others that are official selections that have not started competition. It's amazing that this has all happened as it was just an experiment.

I was interviewed for the Florence Film Awards. They did this interview showcasing my film. The winner announcements won't happen until November 5th but it is a nice interview.

I’ve known since I was a small child that I wanted to be a writer or some sort. As an author, I’ve written and published many books, but when I wrote The Stained-Glass Window, readers kept commenting that it should be made into a movie or television series. That set me on a journey of learning t...

I'm finally getting the trailer up, which I said last Friday. As I talked about before I wanted this short video to be treated just like a film or animated film... where I created a whole series of still images for each scene and then gave prompts to animate what I wanted to have happen in the various scenes. As a lot of you know, with the AI I gave prompts and it didn't do what I asked so I did have to use several different programs with the same prompt to get the right results. This is still an issue with AI and it will be there for awhile. But I wanted to treat this strictly as an AI short. There is no motion capture, animation or compositing in doing this. It was simply an exercise in AI and where it is today.

As AI is moving forward so rapidly I did have to go back and redo a number of shots before I ever finished because the programs updated and changed so much. Even after doing these updated versions, I had to then go back in and add additional elements to already created AI shots, like new explosions, smoke and debris with Runway Gen 4 Aleph. The short has been taken quite well around the world and we are still in a number of festivals right now which is why I can't show the full version until these festivals are done.

As I said a few days ago, we have been working on an AI short. We have been experimenting with AI tools for the last few years for the gaming projects. I decided to do an AI short loosely based on the Maximum Surge game. My concept was to treat it like a normal animated film, where I did the script, the breakdowns of all the major scenes and then I created a series of stills of all the various scenes of the short. Then, I animated the scenes in various AI programs for all the action. I did this as a director trying to see how advanced AI is right now. I had to use numerous programs to make this work as today one program alone would not do it all. After finishing it, I wanted to see how it would do out in the world so I entered it in a number of film festivals to see how it would do. Here is the poster, showing where we are right now. I was not able to put all of the finalists in the poster. I will post the teaser trailer in a couple of days as I can't show the whole short as it is in competition right now. We do have it curently submitted for the Annie Awards, which is an animation festival. We will see how we do.
