Change is possible when we stand together and find the courage to speak up. From fighting to end child marriage in state senates to overcoming the trauma of acid attacks, these incredible survivors are reclaiming their power.

04/16/2026

Acid attacks are a brutal form of gender-based violence, often used as a weapon of control, revenge, or punishment for rejection. Survivors, most often women, are left to endure not only physical harm but long-term trauma, stigma, and social isolation.

Too often, they are rendered invisible by both society and justice systems. Yet many continue to speak out, sharing their stories of survival and their pursuit of justice.

Featuring Davina, whose strength and resilience continue to inspire a powerful reclaiming of identity, voice, and self in the face of the unimaginable.

This episode sheds light on the stigma survivors face, the systemic failures that allow these attacks to persist, and the advocates working to drive accountability, support, and healing.

As International Women’s Month comes to a close, we think about girls like Radha.

Girls with dreams and futures full of possibility, yet like millions around the world, their paths are often shaped by systems they didn’t choose.

Education is one of the most powerful tools we have to change this and help prevent child marriage.

When girls stay in school:
• They are more likely to delay marriage
• Build financial independence
• Advocate for themselves and their communities

Because every girl deserves the chance to choose her own future.
This month may be ending, but this work continues. 🤝

In recognition of International Women’s Day, our friends at Unchained At Last hosted a special New York screening of UNMUTED: Child Brides at the Church Center for the United Nations, alongside a global virtual audience on Zoom. Around 100 people attended the screening in person, joined by many more who joined online from across the globe.

The panel brought together director and showrunner Dena Hysell-Cornejo, survivor Jenn Bradbury, Fraidy Reiss, Founder of Unchained At Last, and Mona Sinha, Global Executive Director of Equality Now, one of UNMUTED’s nonprofit partners. Together, they explored the realities of child marriage across regions, highlighting both shared challenges and important differences between contexts such as the U.S. and India.

Thank you to our partners for making this happen and supporting us throughout this journey.
