Episode 2 of : “Cutting Season” confronts one of the world’s most urgent—and underreported—human rights issues: Female Ge***al Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C).

- FGM/C is still practiced in over 90 countries — far more than the 30 countries typically cited. (Equality Now, 2020)By 2030, - - 68 million girls will be at risk of undergoing FGM/C if we don’t scale up prevention efforts. (UNICEF, 2016)
- Only 41 U.S. states have laws against FGM/C. States like Alaska, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maine, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, and Washington D.C. still have no legal protections. (Equality Now, 2023)
- If global efforts remain stagnant, more women and girls will be cut in 2030 than today. (UNICEF, 2016)

This Father’s Day, we’re honouring the men who are using their influence to create a safer, more equitable world for women and girls.

Fathers, mentors, uncles, and male caregivers have a critical role to play in ending child marriage and preventing gender-based violence. By challenging harmful norms, advocating for girls' education, and modelling respect and empathy, they help shift culture at home and in society.

Being a great father goes beyond providing; it’s about protecting a child’s right to choose, to thrive, and to be heard.

To all the men raising daughters to lead, standing up for survivors, and actively working to break cycles of violence — THANK YOU. Tag a great male role model in your life!
