Something you don't see here very often, a jack plane.
I am restoring what I believe to be a #4 Jack plane, made for Sears by Millers Falls. I don't have the chops to photo the item, but I found an identical picture on the web.
What gets me is the lever cap, iron, adjusting k**b, iron adjuster and cap iron are all chromed...the lever cap very heavily so, just like show chrome on a 67 Mustang.
Quite pretty. I'll be donating it to a younger fella so he can get further along in his dream to be a woodworking and timber framer.
I will also be rehabbing an unknown similar #4 to use as a scrub plane.

What is this vintage medical tool used for?
Just found this item in a charity shop among many other vintage medical items. I'm guessing it's purpose is for looking inside the re**um but I have no education in these matters so want to ask here.

Pure stainless steel. The ribbed end is about the size of a thumb.

I finally finished restoring this 1950's Craftsman Bandsaw that I got on Facebook Marketplace last summer. It took longer than I anticipated but I'm happy with how it turned out. I was able to make a few cuts with it this afternoon and it works great.
I cleaned it all up, resurfaced the table, replaced the table insert and the blade slot alignment screw, replaced the upper wheel bearings, upgraded the upper guide block to a modern version, replaced the drive axle bearing assembly with one I made myself from a John Deere tractor water pump bearing (since the original part is no longer made or available.) I re-balanced the wheels, upgraded the lower thrust bearing, and changed the lower guide blocks from the squeaky brass inserts it came with to a composite self-lubricating set called "cool blocks"; and of course I replaced the motor belt.
I originally planned to repaint it, but now that the dirt's gone i don't think it needs new paint. I'm still looking for an upper blade guard and a missing craftsman nameplate, but other than that It looks and runs great.
Despite being about 70 years old, it now runs as well as (or better than) most new bandsaws. These things are known for being solid workhorses. I'm sure it'll last at least another 70 years.

Super rare. How many of you have one of these all steel craftsman hammers, let alone a whole set? Took me quite a while to assemble this collection. Can anybody tell me more about these? I think they’re from the late 30s into the mid 50s.

Okay experts. I just received this blue handled spinner ratchet. Does anyone know the difference between the blue and black handled versions? Were they made in different years or as part of a set? I'm just curious about the colored handle differences. Thanks!

Had this one for decades. Marked Made in Germany.
In truth I tend to defer to the dial indicator calipers as they’re a quicker read.
