Has gentle parenting gone too far?

Dr. Siggie Cohen believes something has shifted: what began as a move away from fear-based, authoritarian parenting has sometimes swung too far in the opposite direction—where parents can become afraid to actually parent.

Her point isn’t that children shouldn’t have a voice. They should. It’s that listening to our kids, validating their feelings and respecting their autonomy can coexist with boundaries and parental authority.

And when your kid says, “You’re not the boss of me”?

Dr. Siggie: “Yeah, I am.” 😂

Our brand-new conversation is out now on The Iconic Midlife . We get into gentle vs. permissive parenting, boundaries, resilience, screen time, grief and what kids really need from us.

Parents: Have we overcorrected?

The mic quit before I did.

Twenty years on camera and I still managed to make a 4 second clip into a stunt. Please enjoy my face at the end.

New episode of The Iconic Midlife drops Tuesday. The mic has been forgiven.

What do you hope your children remember most about you?

For Michael Allio, the answer is simple: that he showed up.

Not that he was perfect. Not that he never had a bad day. But that he was there, kept his word, and modeled what it means to follow through — especially when doing so is inconvenient or uncomfortable.

I loved this answer from our Fill in the Blank game because it gets at something bigger than parenting.

Legacy isn’t one grand gesture. It’s what people see you do consistently over time.

Michael’s full conversation and game episode of The Iconic Midlife are both live now.

You don’t always need the right words to support someone who is grieving. Sometimes, you just need to be there. ❤️

In this conversation, Michael Allio shares something that has stayed with me: don’t try to convince someone out of their grief. Don’t rush them toward feeling okay. Sit beside them and let them know they have a safe place to land.

After losing my dad last month, I understand those words in a different way.

Grief changes your footing. You’re trying to navigate a world that keeps moving while you’re still figuring out how to move through it yourself. And there is so much comfort in being around people who don’t expect you to have it all figured out.

I also appreciate Michael’s reminder not to judge someone who is rebuilding after loss. There is no single timeline for grief, healing, or finding joy again.

If you know someone who is grieving, you don’t have to fix it. Just show up.

If you’ve experienced grief, what has someone done that made you feel truly supported?

The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise star Michael Allio is engaged—and he told me exactly when he knew she was the one. ❤️

They had been friends. She lived in California, he was raising his son in Ohio, and a relationship across the country didn’t exactly seem practical.

Then Michael saw her again.

Something was different.

Now, two years later, they’re engaged.

In my new conversation with Michael on The Iconic Midlife , we go far beyond the headlines and talk about grief, fatherhood, rebuilding your life, learning to experience joy again—and having the courage to open your heart to another love story.

This week, Intuitive Jennifer Shaffer takes on Spirit Speed Round—our rapid-fire game where the questions are fast, but the answers are surprisingly meaningful.

From the signs loved ones may be sending us to her heartfelt advice for anyone navigating grief, Jennifer’s responses are thoughtful, compassionate, and full of wisdom.

One of my favorite moments?

“Give yourself grace. Don’t ever try to get over it.”

Intuitive Jennifer Shaffer knew something was wrong… nearly 30 years before he murdered five people.

As a little girl, Jennifer refused to go near a neighborhood boy because she felt there was something deeply unsettling about him. No one understood why.

Nearly three decades later, he murdered five people execution-style.

It’s one of the many astonishing stories Jennifer shares in this week’s episode of The Iconic Midlife —along with why she believes intuition is something we all have… we just don’t all learn to trust it.

Whether you’re fascinated by intuition, consider yourself a skeptic, or have ever experienced something you simply couldn’t explain, this conversation will stay with you long after it’s over.

💬 What do you think—are we born with intuition, or is it something we learn to trust?

✨ Intuitive Jennifer Shaffer has helped law enforcement on criminal investigations… and now Jessica Alba is producing a TV series inspired by her life.

How does someone go from assisting on criminal investigations to becoming the inspiration for a major television drama?

Jennifer joined me on The Iconic Midlife for one of the most fascinating conversations I’ve had. We talked about intuition, the biggest misconceptions about intuitive mediums, her friendship with Jessica Alba, and she even gave me a live, unscripted reading during the interview.

Whether you’re curious, skeptical, or simply love exploring life’s biggest questions, I think you’ll really enjoy this episode.

Just dropped today!

Who made up all these fashion “rules” anyway?

👖 Low-rise jeans.
✨ Sequins before noon.
🤍 White after Labor Day.
🙅‍♀️ Dressing for your age.

I put fashion icon Cynthia Rowley to the test in a game of Runway or Run Away? and she definitely had opinions. 😄

One of my favorite answers?

“Dress for your age?” Run Away.

🎥 Our bonus game episode, Runway or Run Away?, just dropped today! Watch now and see which trends Cynthia loved…and which ones she ran away from.

👇 Which fashion “rule” have you officially retired?

07/29/2026

We’ve spent decades being told what women “should” and “shouldn’t” wear.

Fashion icon Cynthia Rowley has a different perspective.

She says there are no trends we all have to follow. Instead of asking, “Can I wear that?” she believes we should be asking, “What can I wear?”

It’s such a simple shift—but it’s one that extends far beyond fashion.

Confidence isn’t about permission.
It’s about curiosity.

🎙️ If you want to hear the full conversation on confidence, creativity, reinvention, and building a remarkable life, listen to The Iconic Midlife with Red Carpet Roxy wherever you get your podcasts.

📺 You can also watch the full interview on YouTube!

What’s one style rule you’ve officially left behind?
