Ultra Slump was created as a result of Cazal Organism needing to create a lane for not just himself, but the artists he felt could benefit from a fresh new imprint dedicated to music (and art) that is inherently human and organic. The label was officially launched at Low End Theory on a cold Wednesday night in October of 2014, as Cazal shared the stage with acclaimed Brainfeeder, Stones Throw, and
Leaving Records producer, Samiyam. This night set the overall vibe and thesis behind Ultra Slump; that millennial funk, that neckbrace slap, the human essence in which makes a lot of people's favorite producers, well, their favorite producers. Ultra Slump was also made to provide a new source of music that didn't majorly rely on trap and EDM influence, although not being a label that didn't want to push the boundaries of trap or the latter. At the heart of Ultra Slump is a roster of artists that maintain a mind-frame of taking what's come before us, blending a vast variety of influences to that, and throwing our signature feels into new music.
