The General Medicine team begins home visits for patients needing at-home care, and Tokushige (Jun Matsumoto) assigns Takino (Fuka Koshiba) her first terminal case: Tatsu Handa (Renji Ishibashi), a stage IV lung cancer patient who wishes to “die with dignity.” As Takino supports him, she confronts the conflicting emotions of his sons Ryuji (Hiroki Konno), who lives with him, and Ryuichiro (Koen Kondo), who lives apart, while struggling with her role as a doctor, just as Akaike (Min Tanaka) arrives unexpectedly at the hospital director’s office.

2025 Nisei Week Japanese Festival WEEK 2🏮🇯🇵

We aired about “2025 Nisei Week Japanese Festival”on our SoCal Japan. On August 16 and 17, the Plaza Festival was held in the JACCC Plaza. Booths offering food, goods, and services lined the area, highlighting Japanese and Japanese American cuisine and culture for visitors. The festival concluded with the Nisei Week Closing Ceremony. Helen Ota, the chair of the organizing committee, expressed gratitude to visitors and the community for their support, and encouraged everyone to continue visiting Little Tokyo.The finale featured the traditional “Street Ondo” dance, with Japanese dance groups, the Nisei Week Queen, members of the public, and the newly arrived Consul General Kosei Murota and his family joining in.
Amid many smiles and cheerful singing, this year’s Nisei Week came to a close.

Yoshikazu Hotta (Kenjiro Tsuda), a popular announcer at a key TV network, comes to Uoto General Hospital after noticing discomfort in his throat.
Tests reveal a tumor near his vocal cords, and Hotta is diagnosed with hypopharyngeal cancer by ENT specialist Hirate (Chikara Honda) and surgeon Kojiro (Mackenyu). Kojiro recommends surgery as “the quickest and most effective treatment,” but Hotta, fearing irreparable damage to his voice, the very tool of his profession, refuses. Instead, he requests a second opinion from the Department of General Medicine.

Tokushige (Jun Matsumoto) faces Hotta, who insists, “Losing my voice would be the same as dying,” but finds himself at odds with Kojiro, who prioritizes complete recovery above all else…

A young boy, Saku Okazaki (Anji Kurokawa), born with a serious congenital heart condition, is rushed to Uotora General Hospital.�Accompanying him is his older brother, Taku (Rairu Sugita). For the past 14 years since Saku’s birth, pediatrician Shiori Arimatsu (Yoshino Kimura) has been his attending doctor, and she desperately works to save him.
Meanwhile, general physician Tokushige (Jun Matsumoto) seems strangely concerned about Taku. During a conference, he questions the circumstances of Saku’s sudden deterioration, looks into Taku and their father, Koji (Toshihide Tonesaku), and behaves in ways that raise suspicion among the other doctors. Arimatsu, sensing that he might be probing into her own mistakes, grows openly uncomfortable.

Wismettac Sake & Food Expo 🍣

We aired about “Wismettac Sake & Food Expo” on our SoCal Japan. August 17. A food and beverage trade show hosted by Wismettac Asian Foods, a company specializing in Japanese food imports, took place on July 19 in Anaheim. The annual event targets industry professionals, including retailers and restaurant operators, and featured around 80 booths showcasing over 100 different food and beverage products. Japanese cuisine has been rapidly expanding in the U.S., from ramen and izakaya-style dishes to street food. This year’s show highlighted premium ingredients, including fresh seafood from Toyosu and melons grown in Japan.
