On Tuesday, May 14, Funko Hollywood hosted a private industry night for hotel professionals to get acquainted with the retail space and company that puts the Pop! in pop culture. Located in the heart of the entertainment industry on Hollywood Boulevard – guests got to explore the 40,000 square-foot retail space in a private setting featuring immersive sets inspired by some of your favorite characters in movies, TV, music, sports, cartoons, video gaming, sci-fi, anime, and more. Guests enjoyed larger-than-life photo opportunities, light refreshments, and the opportunity to Pop! their own characters – creating their very own customizable Funko collectible to take home. Guests even participated in a “Funko Hunt” – a fun scavenger hunt locating trivia clues within the store. Dylan Rosenthal of The Americana at Brand completed the “Funko Hunt” first with all correct answers and took home a gift basket filled with Funko merchandise. Second runner up was Alex Sosa of The Langham Huntington Hotel & Spa who also took home a Funko gift bag with fun merch. Funko Hollywood is a retail experience unlike anything you’ve experienced before and a destination for people of all ages!

On Thursday, April 25, Houston Hospitality in affiliation with the Los Angeles Concierge Association hosted an open house to introduce hospitality professionals to Level 8 inside the Moxy Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles. Director of Marketing, Bo Burroughs, introduced the crowd to the venue that boasts eight separate immersive concepts including: Teppanyaki at Maison Kasai; sushi and shabu shabu at Lucky Mizu; South American grill Qué Barbaro; Golden Hour poolside carousel bar; Mr. Wanderlust piano and jazz lounge; and Sinners Y Santos — a cathedral-inspired nightclub that even includes a wrestling ring that descends from the ceiling. Plus, gourmet taco truck Brown Sheep Taqueria on the outdoor terrace. Coming soon is their modern Champagne and raw bar, Mother of Pearl, featuring sustainably sourced seafood by Michelin-starred Chef Joshua Gil. Guests enjoyed free-flowing cocktails, light bites and getting acquainted with the multi-dimensional dining, drinking and nightlife entertainment venue.

On Tuesday, April 9, Los Angeles Concierge Association members met at Pink Taco on Sunset Boulevard for a “Taco Tuesday” meeting. Members, sponsors and Gold Key Partners joined the group after business affairs were settled and enjoyed a networking reception that included a buffet of chicken tinga ‘pink shell’ tacos, al pastor and carne asada tacos, along with bowls of fresh guacamole, chips and salsa, and free flowing margaritas. Assistant General Manager, Myranda Zimmerebner, personally introduced herself to guests and everyone took home a summer swag bag that included pink sunglasses and a pink beach ball.

On Monday, March 25, the Los Angeles Concierge Association held its monthly mixer at Pizzeria Mozza. Members, sponsors, Gold Key partners, and invited guests were first treated to a private showing of its adjacent restaurant, Osteria Mozza, where guests gathered in the private dining space and Director of Hospitality, Sean Maloney, welcomed everyone. Maloney then took guests next door to visit their upscale Italian fare restaurant, Chi SPACCA, where chefs were fast at work in the open concept kitchen. Following the tour guests were seated in the outside covered patio for a tasting experience that featured meatballs al forno, white bean bruschetta, pane bianco, burrata, lamb, and margherita and bianca pizzas. The highlight of the evening was when Pizzeria Mozza owner and acclaimed chef, Nancy Silverton, surprised the group with a warm welcome and spent a little time offering feedback on her restaurants.

On Wednesday, March 6, the LA Dodgers and ARRIVED™ Los Angeles hosted an open house for hospitality professionals. A rainy night didn’t stop more than a hundred guests who turned out for a behind-the-scenes look at the Stadium. Festivities began in the private membership Stadium Club where Levy Catering presented a buffet of signature items, including Dodger Dogs, Bavarian pretzels, chicken kabob bowls, herb crusted beef sirloin skewers and a host of tray passed appetizers, along with beer and wine. Dodgers Tours Manager, Kayla Rodiger, welcomed everyone and briefed guests on the various tours and event opportunities the iconic Stadium can host. Official LA Dodgers event photographer, Blue Prints, was on site taking photos of all the night’s highlights. Guests were then treated to VIP tours of the Stadium that included a trip to the press box, a walk through the team’s Trophy Gallery, the players’ exclusive Clubhouse, and down to the field to visit the dugout.
Each guest got to take home a Dodgers collectible bobble head – a choice between Dodgers legend Maury Wills and current player Dustin May. A special Thank You to Dodgers Special Event Sales & Marketing Manager, Kristi Schaffter, for making the night a home run for us all!

On Wednesday, February 28, the Los Angeles Concierge Association hosted its monthly meeting at The West Hollywood EDITION hotel. Members met for their business meeting before sponsors and Gold Key Partners were invited for lite bites and a tour of the property. Guests got a peek of the Lobby Bar, the hotel’s signature restaurant, Ardor and The Roof – a rootop bar including a terraced desk, pool, and spectacular views of the city. Guests reconvened in one of the hotel’s Studio boardrooms for lite refreshments and networking.

On Thursday, February 15, Holocaust Museum LA hosted a private viewing for its members and hotel professionals of its latest exhibit, "To Paint is to Live: Art & Resistance in Theresienstadt." The exhibition encapsulates the profound role of art as a form of resistance, showcasing how, in the face of unimaginable adversity, prisoners were able to use their creative expression to claim their humanity. Through art clandestinely drawn, hidden, and recovered, this exhibition explores daily life in Theresienstadt, delving into the powerful narratives of endurance, bravery, and resistance through the works of remarkable artists—Erich Lichtblau-Leskly, Fred Beckmann, Moritz Müller, and Leo Haas—each of whom endured the harrowing conditions of Theresienstadt. "To Paint is to Live" is on view at the Holocaust Museum LA through November 30.

On Tuesday, January 30, the Los Angeles Concierge Association kicked off the new year with its first meeting at Four Seasons Los Angeles at Beverly Hills. Chef Concierge of the Sunset Marquis, Matt Beritich, was promoted from Vice President to President of the Association and official business during the private meeting got underway. Beverly Wilshire, A Four Seasons Hotel’s concierge, Seph Qu***ia, who returned to the hospitality industry last year re-gained his Les Clefs d’Or status and was pinned by two colleagues. Private luxury tour operator, Tour du Jour, offered a presentation to the group on its one-of-a-kind excursions that was followed by a private reception with bites and drinks under the stars on The Deck adjacent to the resort pool.

On Monday, December 11, the Los Angeles Concierge Association held its “Studio 54 Inspired” Holiday Gala at La Bohéme in West Hollywood. Concierge members, Gold Key Partners along with sponsors and guests turned out for a disco party to celebrate the season. The night kicked off with cocktails and a dinner buffet before LACA President, Frank Parr, and Vice President, James Little addressed the group with their gratitude and thanks for a successful year. A special award, the “Chizuru Melendez Concierge of the Year Award,” honoring the late former concierge, Chizuru Melendez, went to LACA President Frank Parr who was also honored with “The Unsung Hero Award” for consistently going above and beyond for Association members and sponsors. The night concluded with disco music, dancing, desserts and raffle prizes.

On Tuesday, November 14, the Los Angeles Concierge Association held its elections meeting at Mastro’s Steakhouse Beverly Hills. Members elected their 2024 Board including new appointees: Vice President, Matt Beritich of the Sunset Marquis Hotel & Villas; Membership Director, Chamian Coates of the Four Seasons Los Angeles; Secretary, Carmen Alvarez of the Four Seasons Los Angeles; and Social Media Chair, Joyce Louie of the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills. Open positions to be filled for next year include president and treasurer. After the elections portion of the meeting, sponsors joined the group for a seated family-style dinner that included seafood towers, choice of main entrée, roasted Brussels sprouts, lobster mashed potatoes, white cheddar mac and cheese, creamed corn, and platters of dessert featuring Mastro’s famous signature warm butter cake.

On Tuesday, October 24, the Los Angeles Concierge Association held its Board nominations meeting at the legendary Beverly Wilshire, A Four Seasons Hotel. Members gathered first for a private business meeting and nominated candidates for its 2024 Board. Sponsors and Gold Key Partners joined the group for a post-meeting reception in the hotel’s Penthouse Suite featuring 5,000 square feet of luxury space and a wraparound terrace with sweeping views of Beverly Hills, Hollywood, Century City and Downtown. On Thursday, October 19, a group of hospitality professionals along with guests were treated to a Spooktacular Night at the Hollywood Museum in the Historic Max Factor Building. Partygoers
transformed themselves in their favorite Halloween attire and embarked on a frightful night exploring the museum and its more than 10,000 authentic showbiz treasures. Everyone was asked to face their fears by descending to the Dungeon of Doom for light bites and drinks in the underground exhibition that features terrorizing monsters of mayhem, sets, props and costumes from some of Hollywood’s scariest and most memorable film and television programs. ARRIVED Los Angeles Publisher, Jeff Levy, welcomed everyone and introduced Hollywood Museum’s Founder and President, Donelle Dadigan, who gave insight on the Museum’s memorabilia and exhibits. Costume prizes were awarded during the reception: “Funniest Costume” went to Hennie Marlis of Concierge Solutions dressed as Elton John. “Scariest Costume” went to Zervando Zermeno of the Sofitel Los Angeles for his terrifying rendition of a deathly killer nun. The “Best Costume” of the night went to Michael Belasco of the Beverly Wilshire, A Four Seasons Hotel for dressing as ARRIVED Publisher Jeff Levy, complete with a hidden microphone and glasses. Honorary mention went to Jarod Millsap of the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills and his gal pal for dressing as cowboy Ken and cowgirl Barbie from "Barbie" the movie.

On Tuesday, October 10, a group of hotel professionals were treated to a night of eating, drinking and playing in Old Pasadena – an authentic downtown neighborhood on the National Register of Historic Places. The historic district spans 22 blocks and features more than 300 businesses. Hotel VIPs and their guests started out at the Southeast Asian Kitchen & Bar, Bone Kettle, where they were treated to garlic prawns, spicy tuna poke on wonton chips, chicken satay with peanut sauce, cauliflower with coconut lime aioli, and onion chips. Owner Erwin Tjahyadi greeted each guest with prosecco and orange wine pourings. Old Pasadena’s Director of Marketing & Events, Janet Swartz, welcomed everyone and shared some insight on the district’s premier shopping, world-class dining and entertainment activities for all ages. ARRIVED Los Angeles Publisher, Jeff Levy, spoke about the unique offerings in Old Pasadena and the importance of hotel professionals getting acquainted with the district in order to better serve their hotel guests. The group then embarked on a walking tour that included a visit to Neon Retro Arcade hosted by owner Mia Guenther. This classis gaming arcade features games that launched the video gaming revolution and guests had an opportunity to battle alien spaceships, street fighters and crazy demons during a 30-minute session of free open play. The next visit was to Agnes Restaurant & Cheesery where owner and Executive Chef, Thomas Tilaka Kalb, and his co-owner wife and “head cheese,” Vanessa Tilaka Kalb, welcomed guests in their Zen Den outdoor patio with crudités and cheese platters featuring various dips, cornbread cupcakes, banana pudding desserts, red wine and Gin-tini cocktails. On Tuesday, September 26, the Los Angeles Concierge Association hosted its annual Expo and Hospitality Tradeshow. More than 50 partners including tour operators, entertainment attractions, restaurants, shopping destinations, and museums gathered in the elegant Grand Ballroom of the Taglyan Complex in Hollywood for a night of information gathering and networking with hotel professionals from all over Los Angeles, Orange County and San Diego. Vendor contributions to the LACA’s silent auction and raffles helped raise thousands of dollars for MAUI STRONG—helping communities in Hawaii that have been affected by the devastating wildfires this past summer with financial resources and support.

On Monday, August 28, Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for the official opening of its resort Concierge Desk. Chef Concierge, Barbara Reyes, built a team of Cast Members who can assist with dining and activity reservations, itinerary planning, directions, transportation, and a host of Southern California tours, shopping and dining information. The Concierge Desk had been absent since the pandemic restructured duties and responsibilities of its team members. Barbara Reyes' leadership was the driving force to rebuild a new team for the resort and her guidance will ensure a magical experience for all their Disney guests.

On Wednesday, August 30, the night of the rare supermoon, concierges and their VIP guests got to embark on a land and sea tour of Marina del Rey. Guests met on the outdoor patio of Tony P’s Dockside Grill where restaurateur, Tony P, welcomed guests with his signature Mai Tais, beer, wine, and a selection of light bites. ARRIVED Los Angeles publisher, Jeff Levy, welcomed everyone and introduced Marina del Rey Tourism Board’s, Barbara Littlejohn, who gave a brief overview of the night’s festivities. Guests boarded the Marina WaterBus to Killer Shrimp where owner, Brett Doherty, greeted everyone with coconut shrimp skewers, mini crab cakes with habanero tartar sauce, mini lobster mac ‘n’ cheese croquettes, beef teriyaki skewers, assorted hand rolls and their signature rum cocktail, Pieces of Eight. Guests got an insider’s look at the harbor-side venue that boasts its main restaurant and a second level event space for large scale private events and concerts. They also got a peek of the more intimate private lounge for live performances with an exclusive VIP space tucked away from the main crowd. Guests then boarded the WaterBus to visit Brizo Bar & Restaurant based at the Residence Inn & Courtyard in the Marina where they experienced nightfall on the rooftop terrace with drinks, charcuterie and an assortment of mini desserts. Members and friends of the Los Angeles Concierge Association enjoyed a summer night out at the Hollywood Bowl on Saturday, August 26, before a performance of Boy George and Culture Club along with BERLIN. The group picknicked at the Highland Camrose Park before they enjoyed fun pop tunes from the 80s.
