As part of our introductory science lessons, I introduce a new science tool each day! 🔬✨

On this day, we learned all about tweezers. I showed students two different types and talked about how they work and what we can use them for.

Then came the fun part! I poured a bunch of pom-poms onto the carpet and had students use the tweezers to pick them up and transfer them into their buckets. 🟢🟡🔵

It’s a simple activity, but it’s a great way to introduce a new tool while also building fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and tool-control skills!

After reading “My Pet Wants a Pet” by Elise Broach, we talked about the names we use for adult and baby animals at my literacy station! 🐶🐍🐟 The kids knew some of the more familiar ones, like dog and cat, but we got to work on some new vocabulary, too! They were especially interested in words like “snakelet” for a baby snake and “fry” for a baby fish. 🐍🐟 I love finding opportunities to introduce new vocabulary through books and letting the kids discover some surprising new words along the way! 📚✨

The possibilities with these materials are truly endless, and this activity was just one tiny peek at what you can do with the kit! 🤩 I introduced my students to Numberblocks 1–5 and gave each student a card. They used the cubes to build their Numberblock character and then labeled it by placing the clear plastic number on top. Such a simple activity, but it gave them hands-on practice with counting, number recognition, and connecting quantities to numerals! 🙌 My Pre-K friends were LOVING it! 💙

I am absolutely obsessed with this 4 ft. x 3 ft. wall calendar from ! 📅✨

I filled it out with all of my themes for the year, important dates, and days off. I strategically placed it in my back hallway right next to where I keep all of my curriculum organized, so it makes planning ahead SO easy!

At the end of each week, I can quickly check the calendar and see exactly which materials I need to pull for the following week. 🙌🏼

Meet Ziggy! 🐶🧘‍♀️💛 Our newest friend for mindfulness practice from ! This plush-covered yoga ball is made just the right size for little learners and gives kids a fun, friendly way to explore yoga and mindful movement. 🧘‍♂️✨ It comes with a set of yoga pose cards that tuck right into Ziggy’s pocket! We introduced him during whole group, and now he lives in our peace corner for students who need a quiet minute to reset and practice some mindfulness. 💛 *I will say… I probably didn’t inflate ours quite enough 😂 but it still worked perfectly for my tiny kiddos! Happy First Day of School!👩🏻‍🏫✏️✨ I’m so happy to finally reveal my classroom for my 8th year of teaching!🥰 This is such a special room to me because of all of the decorations I was able to reuse from my first year. A huge shout out to my family for helping me get this room ready for my little friends.❤️
