New Novel “Admit This to No One” Scrutinizes D.C.’s Power-Hungry Culture

"I like to write in a way that challenges established lines of thinking. I like to take a broad subject—say, power—and examine the tricky angles, the truths we don’t always want to acknowledge."

Leslie Pietrzyk spoke to Nicole Schaller of District Fray Magazine about her new collection of stories 'Admit This to No One'.

Leslie Pietrzyk’s latest novel “Admit This to No One” holds nothing back about the District’s hunger for power. Through fiction, the Drue Heinz Literature Prize winning author examines the inner workings and dynamics of D.C.’s powerful political families. Set to release on November 9 and a...

A review by Asymptote Journal:
"'Milk Teeth' is a novel with a lingering taste, one that weighs on the soul. It asks introspection of us, drawing attention to the cataclysms that daunt our own world even through the imagined, fictive realm. It advocates for responsibility instead of blindness, knowledge instead of ignorance, and in the realization of the fact that there may no longer be easy answers for our problems, it holds up a mirror so that we may confront our worst instincts." 🥀

SHORT LIST SPOTLIGHT: "A CERTAIN HUNGER" by Chelsea G. Summers . . In an interview with Audible, author Chelsea G. Summers discusses her thriller of a debut, which details the life of protagonist Dorothy Daniels, a food critic turned serial killer. Commenting on her choice to write from a female pyschopath's perspective, Summers asserts: "I think that there's something very freeing for women, in particular at this moment in time, to access feelings of rage and violence, and to do it in a way that is pleasurable and safe for everyone. It's an outlet that men have had for a very long time. I think one of the joys of going to a slasher film is, you know, feeling the feels of the person doing the slashing..." . .
