For most football fans, watching the FIFA World Cup means cheering for their favorite team. But England supporter Gus Hully created a tradition unlike any other.
Over the course of more than a year, Gus collected a beer (or the closest available non-alcoholic alternative for countries where alcohol is restricted) representing each of the 48 nations competing in the expanded 2026 FIFA World Cup. His plan is simple: every time a country is eliminated from the tournament, he opens and drinks that nation's beer as a tribute to its World Cup journey.
This isn't a one-time idea. Gus has followed similar traditions during previous World Cups and European Championships, but the expanded 48-team tournament made this year's challenge his biggest yet. His unique collection quickly went viral, with football fans around the world praising the creativity and dedication behind the project.
