“Let me make something perfectly clear — I’ve been in this business long enough to recognize when a play crosses the line. What we witnessed tonight was reckless, unnecessary, and far beyond the intensity of football.

When a player goes for the ball, everyone can see it. But when he abandons the play and targets another player out of frustration, that’s not instinct — that’s intent. And we all saw what followed: the taunting, the celebrations, and the lack of accountability.
I’m not here to name names. But to the league and the officials: player safety, fairness, and integrity cannot simply be words. If rules are going to matter, they must be enforced consistently.
Tonight, the Kentucky Wildcats defeated the South Alabama Jaguars 45–21, and I couldn’t be prouder of my team. We fought for every yard, stayed composed under pressure, and played with professionalism from start to finish.
This was a hard-fought battle between Kentucky and South Alabama. The Wildcats controlled much of the game, created separation on the scoreboard, and consistently applied pressure on both sides of the ball. Kentucky’s offense made key plays throughout the night, while the defense did enough to protect the lead and close out the victory.
This victory doesn’t erase the issues we witnessed, but it shows the character of this team. We respect our opponents, the game, and the officials — and we expect that same respect in return.
The 45–21 score will go into the record book, but the discipline, unity, and competitive spirit we showed tonight are what I’ll remember most.
We’ll celebrate this win, then get back to work. The Kentucky Wildcats still have a lot to prove.”
