In July 2015, Tim Balderramos went from Pac Master to Pac Legend when he became the world's first gamer on livestream to make it past Pac-Man's "impossible" split-screen on Level 256 during the TG Pac-Man Kill Screen Challenge! How did he do it? Turns out that back in the 80s, a gamer *could have* gotten past the split screen if it was possible to eat 244 dots, which triggers the game to advance to the next screen. But since you're missing nearly half the dots, gamers couldn't do it – until Tim was able to play on the Ms. Pac-Man/Galaga 20 Year Reunion arcade machine, which permits continues! So after reaching Level 256 with all of his Pac lives and eating all of the regenerating dots, Tim contined his game under the special rules of the challenge, and went back to eating those hidden dots. 12 Pacs later, Tim did the “impossible” – Pac-Man gobbled 244 dots, triggering the game to advance to Level 257. Although the level indicator reset to Cherries – typically the game's first and easiest stage – you'll notice that the game was still playing at top speed and the power pellets didn't turn the ghosts blue! At this point, Tim continued playing until he reached the SECOND split screen without losing a life, and finished out his run with an eye-watering 6,300,000 points.
