Jason Vukovich’s life was shaped by years of trauma after enduring abuse during childhood at the hands of his adoptive father in Anchorage, Alaska. According to reports, those experiences followed him into adulthood, contributing to struggles with addiction, arrests, and ongoing personal battles.

In 2016, investigators say Jason used Alaska’s public s*x offender registry to locate several registered offenders. Over the course of a few days, he allegedly entered multiple homes and attacked the men with a hammer, claiming he believed he was delivering justice on behalf of victims.

Police later arrested Vukovich and reportedly recovered a handwritten list of names, the weapon used in the assaults, and stolen property connected to the incidents.

Jason eventually pleaded guilty to charges including assault and robbery as part of a plea agreement that dismissed numerous additional charges. In 2018, he was sentenced to 28 years in prison, with a portion of the sentence suspended.

During sentencing, the judge acknowledged the trauma Jason experienced growing up but emphasized that vigilante actions and personal revenge cannot replace the legal justice system.

The case later earned him the nickname ā€œThe Alaskan Avenger,ā€ sparking intense debate online over justice, trauma, and the limits of taking the law into your own hands.

Authorities say 13-year-old Derek Rosa fatally attacked his 39-year-old mother while she was asleep inside their apartment in Hialeah, Florida. Reports state she suffered dozens of stab wounds, while her newborn baby—sleeping nearby in a crib—was left physically unharmed.

Shortly after the incident, Rosa allegedly contacted 911 and admitted to what happened. Investigators also said he took photos of the scene, including images of his blood-covered hands, and shared them with an online friend.

During the investigation, detectives reportedly uncovered troubling internet searches on Rosa’s devices, including questions about where to stab someone and whether a small knife could be used to kill.

His defense team later fought to keep portions of that evidence out of court, but prosecutors argued it played a major role in the case.

Rosa was initially charged with first-degree murder, a charge that could have resulted in a mandatory life sentence if tried as an adult. However, after accepting a plea deal for second-degree murder, reports indicate he could become eligible for release in about 25 years.

At sentencing, Rosa apologized to his family. His stepfather, Frank Ramos, spoke emotionally about the devastating impact the case had on their lives and the responsibility of now raising the newborn child alone.

The case also sparked heated debate online, with some supporters wearing ā€œWe Are All Derekā€ shirts and arguing that a 13-year-old should not face prosecution in the adult justice system despite the severity of the crime.
