All of this….

Pursue your curiosity…that’s it….every day. One decision isn’t forever…so what if you fall or fail…people who do wonderful magical things fall and fail over and over again pursuing their curiosity. Instead of staying where you are try letting go and see where the current takes you. Remember you can always swim back…but I think you might be surprised where you end up…again and again.

As an actor, you are your product and it’s very easy to center yourself in a way that excludes others experiences. I find that if you try to put yourself in the other person‘s position, it helps you to feel a lot of grace and I think it would help you as an actor as well. If you take the personal out of it and really truly think of it from your agents point of view, and from a business standpoint, I think a lot of the questions that you have will resolve themselves. Figuring out how to prioritize money is not a bad thing. It’s what keeps your agency in business. It’s what allows your agent to keep fighting for your art. It’s what allows them to encourage you to do theater because at the end of the day, you prioritize money with other things in the end when you run a business it’s always about money and that’s not a bad thing. Also remember you want your agent talking about you not to you. This isn’t a hand holding business also your agents need to have time and space for their own lives as well so please try and give a little grace.❤️

If you are feeling down or defeated, I need you to change up the energy. If you are bummed out that your agent doesn’t get you more auditions I need you to change up the energy if you’re bummed out that you keep getting let out of avails I need you to change up your energy!!!! It’s the first step out of a defeatist attitude. I need you to ask yourself if what you’re saying is helping you or hurting you and then I need you to clap your hands and move on forward. This is your career take charge of it if you think you are a victim I am telling you right now you’re wrong. There are so many things you can do to help you along this path and if you can’t do it on your own then go follow or because they have groups of actors that get together and share information and help and motivate each other. Sometimes you just need to be in community if you can’t figure out how to dig yourself out of your mind racing around sometimes you just need to go for a walk or get ice cream whatever it is I need you to change the energy sending you love.

You can unsubscribe anytime many of the people who’ve been asking me for consults if they just have a couple of questions I say don’t spend all that money just subscribe for the month! I hope if this happens to you, you realize that it’s a gift. Sometimes we stay places way too long out of fear of not finding another connection. But I promise you you can’t be free to fly if you’re staying somewhere that isn’t fortifying you. And his heart as it is to hear Any kind of rejection if you can look at it like someone is letting you out of a cage to fly and to find your next connection I think not only will it make your transition easier it’s the truth! It’s why when people tell me they’re getting a divorce I say congratulations! Over the years when I’ve seen people staying in relationships way past it’s overdue date and seeing people on the side, but not telling their partner I’ve always thought that was super selfish. Being honest with someone about the health of a connection I believe is an act of love. As hard as it is, it allows both people to find connections that will allow them to grow. So that’s why I hope if anyone in any facet of your life leaves you you realize that now you have the rest of your life to create something new and I hope that you thank them For leaving soon sooner rather than later.

Morning musing. When you are feeling dissatisfied, always look to what you can do to move yourself forward in a positive way first whether that’s checking your energy whether that’s looking at your materials whether that’s getting yourself into a new class or learning to meditate or submitting yourself on other projects or bringing in a manager Whatever you can do that moves you in a forward positive direction is better than sitting and waiting for your current representation to be who you want them to be. This is your career. I know you know that. That means that the buck stops with you first NOT the agent. I find that actors want to leave their agents because they think that once they get the agent, they can just let go and the agent will do everything and that is just not the case it’s like being on a baseball team you need everyone working in unison and if something‘s not working my Strongest opinion, is that first you look to yourself and see what you can change before you automatically just hop to another place. Now sometimes that works because you’re with a sh*tty agent, but I think it’s important if you know you are with a decent agent to try and change the energy yourself first.

This choice to have a career in the arts. I hope is a long one for you. I hope it’s like the best meal you’ve ever had every time you think about this life you are building. Sure there will be moments where you’re reading three lines in the Pitt and you wonder is this all there is for me. I’m emphatically going to tell you no! This is more than just three lines on The Pitt. Sure you can make that choice and skim the surface of what an acting career and an acting path can do for you but what I hope for you is that you dive deep. And what that looks like is having care for the craft of what you’re doing. what it looks like is exploring all the depths of what you have to give to yourself and to this profession and to this Art. There’s plenty of time for the business side and to skim the surface and to do on camera classes, and I love all of that! It’s all part of it. I’m begging you not to skip the meat and the juice of what this life has to offer you please explore scene study classes where you’re diving deep and stretching what you can actually give. Because that is really what this business is about you are an offering every day you are an offering to this world and to this business and so explore how much you have to give widen your aperture I promise you at the end of the career you will be so happy that you did that you turned yourself inside out, and gave it all you had that you were able to experience so much of yourself that you didn’t even know as possible

There is 100% nothing that you have to do in this business besides, make sure that you’re ready for the opportunity. But there are many things you can do to help yourself being the best position to get Cast. And you don’t have to wear the same thing you wore on a first call to a call back, but I will say that it does help. Sometimes instead of remembering your name, a director or producer will remember what you were wearing because it was distinctive, so if there’s anything you can do to help them remember you why not do it? Again, you don’t have to! And I’m sure people get Cast wearing completely different clothes! There are exceptions to everything. But I’m just gonna say that a director wrote to me and said that it helps him when he’s CASTING when someone wears the same thing. So why not just make it easy for them?
