🦅 KAYDEE DISAPPEARED INTO THE WILD… YEARS LATER, HER BAND TOLD US WHERE SHE WENT
Before thousands of eyes were watching her every move in Big Bear Valley, Kaydee was simply a wild young eagle. 💖🦅
She was born and raised in the Prado Basin, where she was known as KD1 and carefully monitored as a young eaglet.
Then she left.
And just like that, she disappeared into the much bigger world beyond her natal territory.
She was simply a young bald eagle out there in the wild — learning to fly, developing her skills, exploring new places, and finding her way through the landscape.
For years, we had no idea where her journey would take her.
Then came 2026.
A banded bald eagle appeared around the Big Bear Valley eagle territory.
And there it was…
The lavender KD1 band. 🦅
A tiny clue that connected this nearly mature eagle in the mountains to the young eaglet who had once been documented in the Prado Basin.
Think about that for a moment.
From a small nestling in the Prado Basin…
to a powerful young eagle exploring an entirely different landscape.
Her story is such a beautiful reminder that wild animals have entire lives unfolding beyond our cameras and our screens.
There were years when nobody was watching Kaydee.
But she was still out there.
Growing. Learning. Exploring. Becoming the eagle we see today.
And then, one little band helped tell us where her journey had taken her.
Sometimes nature writes the most incredible stories when nobody is watching. 🦅🌲❤️
Trust the eagles.
