The 2026 California governor’s race just got real. LA Mayor Karen Bass has officially endorsed former Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, reigniting a decades-long alliance that began in the activist days of the 1970s.

Bass called Villaraigosa the leader California needs amid national uncertainty — praising his record on healthcare, transit, and the environment. With a packed field and early polling tight, her endorsement could shift momentum.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass stepped firmly into California’s 2026 governor’s race this week, endorsing former Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. The two leaders go back more than 50 years, first meeting as activists in the 1970s. At a press event in South Los Angeles, Bass praised Villaraigosa’s lon...

Big change for California EV drivers: Starting October 1, solo access to carpool lanes is gone. The Clean Air Vehicle decal program is ending, and the DMV is cracking down. If you’ve relied on that sticker, it’s time to adjust your commute.

California politicians banned the most effective rodent control tools to appease activists—not scientists. The result? A full-blown government-created rodent plague.

Over 100,000 acres of almond orchards damaged. $310 million in crop losses. Rodents spreading disease, chewing through infrastructure, and multiplying unchecked—because lawmakers prioritized slogans over science.

This isn’t just about rats. It’s about failed leadership. While California ranks near the bottom in homelessness, education, affordability, and infrastructure, Sacramento just added one more title: Worst rodent infestation in America—by design.

https://latinoreport.com/californias-latest-worst-in-the-nation-title-a-government-created-rodent-plague/

When politics replaces science, the result is higher costs, public health risks, and a statewide infestation. Politicians love to remind the nation that California is the world’s fourth-largest economy and claim that others should follow the so-called “California Way.” But behind the slogans a...

California imports more oil from the Amazon rainforest than it produces at home. We pay $25 billion a year to regimes that oppress women, criminalize LGBTQ+ people, and destroy ecosystems—all while laying off our own workers.

This isn’t leadership on climate. It’s outsourcing our conscience.

California oil workers—55,000 strong—deserve more than empty slogans about a “just transition.” They deserve real answers. Real opportunities. Real respect.

Before we shut down another oil job, let’s see the alternative. Not hypotheticals. Not promises. Actual paychecks.

I grew up in a union household. My father was a Teamster who worked in the downtown Los Angeles produce markets for 41 years, alongside many coworkers who barely had a high school diploma. We were a blue-collar family, and by the time I entered the fourth grade, I had the highest level of education

Charlie Kirk was more than a political activist. He was a husband, a father, and a man who believed in the power of debate over division. His life and mission remind us that we must talk through our differences, not tear each other apart.

https://latinoreport.com/charlie-kirks-final-mission-a-plea-for-dialogue-over-division/

Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, was shot and killed Wednesday while speaking at Utah Valley University. It was the first stop on a nationwide college tour aimed at sparking real dialogue. He was 31. Kirk wasn’t just a conservative firebrand or a podcaster with millions of listeners. He...

I grew up in a union household. My dad didn’t have a college degree, but his job as a Teamster gave our family a shot at the middle class. That job paid the bills, covered health care, and let my parents retire with dignity.

Today, California oil workers—many of them from similar backgrounds—are being told to pack up and "transition" to something else. But where are those $123,000-a-year clean energy jobs? Where are the benefits and pensions? Where’s the plan?

This isn’t a “just transition.” It’s a pink slip wrapped in a press release.

We’re not reducing oil demand—we’re just outsourcing production to countries with no worker rights and no environmental protections. That’s not justice. That’s betrayal.

Charlie Kirk believed that open dialogue between people with different views was essential to a free society. His tragic death is a reminder that when speech is silenced, violence fills the void. To honor his legacy, we must recommit to empathy, conversation, and free expression.

My dad didn’t have a degree—he had a union job that paid the bills, kept us insured, and gave my parents a stable retirement. That’s what California oil jobs offer today: a real shot at the middle class, even for those without a college diploma or with a record.

Now, 55,000 of those jobs are on the chopping block.

We hear a lot about a “just transition,” but where are the actual jobs waiting on the other side? Where are the $123K salaries, the benefits, the security?

Meanwhile, California still uses just as much oil—only now, we import it from countries that exploit workers, destroy ecosystems, and abuse human rights.

This isn’t a transition. It’s a trade: California jobs for foreign oil.
If you support working families, it’s time to say so—loudly.

California already ranks among the worst in the nation for affordability, homelessness, education, business climate, and more. Now, we can add rodent plague to the list—and this one was made by lawmakers.

In 2025, politicians banned key rodent control tools under pressure from activists, ignoring scientists and pest control experts. The result? Rats are overrunning farms, homes, and even cities—chewing wires, spreading disease, and causing hundreds of millions in agricultural damage.

This isn’t about politics or slogans. It’s about public health, food security, and letting experts do their jobs. When lawmakers ignore science, everyone pays the price.

A flesh-eating parasite is moving north through Mexico—and if it crosses into the U.S., it could devastate livestock, wildlife, even pets and people. But here’s the remarkable part: this isn’t just a horror story. It’s a story of what happens when science, government, and real people on the ground work together.

The New World Screwworm once ravaged the U.S. until scientists launched a massive, coordinated eradication campaign. Now, with the pest on the move again, agencies on both sides of the border are gearing up to stop it—before it gets here.

This isn’t just about pest control. It’s a real-world reminder that cooperation works—and that big problems can be solved when we stop fighting each other and start fighting the threat.

Read it. Share it. We need more stories like this.

In my work, I cover everything from construction and energy to farming and pest control. Most stories pass without surprise. But sometimes, I come across one that stops me cold. This one starts with a creature called the New World Screwworm and ends as a reminder of what happens when scientists, gov...

The AOC Presidential Question Just Got Real

A surprise vote in Congress, millions in grassroots donations, and growing national popularity — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez might be closer to the Oval Office than many think. https://latinoreport.com/could-president-ocasio-cortez-happen/

A growing number of political watchers say Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez may not be as far from the presidency as some think. While skeptics doubt her viability, her recent moves suggest otherwise. In July, Ocasio-Cortez voted with the overwhelming majority of Congress to fund Israel’s Iron Dome — a ...

Worried about pesticides in your family’s food? The latest California Department of Pesticide Regulation report shows that over 99% of California-grown produce has no detectable residues or is well below strict safety limits. That’s the result of decades of farmer–scientist–regulator teamwork, cutting-edge testing, and precision farming. Fresh, safe, and ready for your lunchbox.
https://latinoreport.com/california-produce-is-safe-for-your-family-and-backed-by-science/

If you are a parent who carefully packs lunches and plans meals around healthy fresh foods you have probably seen alarming headlines about pesticides in produce. The Dirty Dozen list first released in 2004 still makes the rounds every spring. But here is the truth. Farming science and food safety st...
