GOG and Steam's Summer sale is on! Here are recommendations you can spend a little (or a LOT) less money on:

Blade Chimera (Steam $11.99): Cool Metroidvania that can be finished in around five or so hours. Great value

Horizon Forbidden West (Steam $29.99): If you enjoyed the first Horizon game, this is the first time the sequel has been half off!

Mechwarrior 5: Clans (Steam $13.99): This is the offshoot to mainline MW5: Mercenaries with a greater focus on action rather than simulation. Fun campaign with two optional expansions, which are also on sale.

Ratchet & Clank: A Rift Apart (Steam $23.99). The latest entry in the 3rd person shooter series does not disappoint, and at a good price!

Haste (Steam $11.99). This is a roguelike about a courier literally outrunning the destruction of her world. Great sense of speed.

BlazBlue Entropy Effect (Steam $12.99) Speaking of roguelikes, Blazblue dips its toes into 2d hack n' slash in a way that is engaging and highly replayable. They recently added a second story campaign.

Phantom Breaker Battlegrounds: Ultimate (Steam $2.50). This remake of the chibi beat-em-up based on the fighting game Phantom Breaker adds some QOL plus a few extra features to the original, and at a price that can't be beat.

Warhammer 40K: Boltgun (Steam $7.25 / GOG $8.79) For the Emperor! This chunky FPS set in the grimdark future delivers on high octane shooting at a bargain basement price

Darksiders Whips and Chains bundle (Steam $12.20 / GOG $11.99)
This is an absolute steal to get three action-adventure games in a single bundle. Each entry is inspired by a different genre of rpg from Zelda to Dark Souls. Well worth a look, and irresistible at this price.

Ys series (Steam / GOG varies) I'm a sucker for isometric rpgs, and the Ys series is my favorite of the bunch. Ys: Origin, Oath in Felghana, and Ark of Napishtim are easy recommendations and can be had for about $5 each. Newer entries like Lacrimosa of Dana, and Monstrum Nox are also discounted (just be leery of the DLC, none of it is necessary - or even recommended).

Hot on the heels of our last SoulCalibur tournament, SoulCalibur V is playable in emulation for the first time! It has a few hitches here and there and no one has eyes, but hey, it works!

In a strange coincidence, I heard the song "Getting Away With Murder" by Papa Roach twice in the same day​.

Once in Mech Assault 2, the other in Devil May Cry season 2 - separa​ted​ by​ twenty-two years.

And no​w​ tha​t​ I say it out loud, that's a lot of two's.

I dunno why it took me this long to investigate, but I found SoulCalibur II Plus, which adds all guest characters and instantly unlocks everything on each home port of the game, excluding the HD version (PS2, Xbox, Gamecube). We will be using the Xbox version for the extra visual fidelity from here on out.

I just had an insane idea I wanted to commit to the aether. What if we did​ Spicy Doom - Deathmatch Edition.

Ru​l​e​s: timed. Most kills in 5 minutes. Each time a player dies, they have to do a shot of an increasingly hotter sauce​ before they continue.
