The Glascock County Board of Commissioners has planned a called meeting for 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 26, at the county courthouse to discuss H581.

Disaster Recovery Center in McDuffie County to Close Permanently Jan. 25

The Disaster Recovery Center in McDuffie County is set to close permanently at 6 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 25. It is currently open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday through Saturday.

The recovery center is at this location:

Thomson Depot

111 Railroad St.

Thomson, GA 30824



Residents can visit any open center. They can find the center closest to them by going to fema.gov/drc. All centers are accessible to people with disabilities or access and functional needs and are equipped with assistive technology.

FEMA provides help to all disaster survivors, regardless of race, color, national origin, s*x, s*xual orientation, religion, age, disability, English proficiency, or economic status. Our top priority is ensuring that disaster assistance is reaching people in need.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT from the City of Wrens:

ATTENTION: AllGreen Services has suspended garbage service in for Thursday the 23rd due to snow and ice on the roads and the closure of some landfills. As of today, the Wednesday garbage collections will be delayed. We will be posting updates as we get them. Thank you for patience and understanding.

Optimist Toy Drive
The Wrens North Jefferson Optimist Club is holding its annual Toy Drive campaign to help the youth of the area have a special holiday season. The club is currently accepting unwrapped toys, clothing, monetary contributions for boys and girls ages 1 to 12-years-old. Please mail monetary contributions to PO Box 351 Wrens, GA, 30833. Unwrapped toys and clothing can be dropped off at Wrens City Hall from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Optimist Toy Drive applications can also be picked up at Wrens City Hall. Please submit applications by Dec. 9. Any questions regarding this campaign can be directed to club president Michael Brown at 706-825-8205 or club treasurer Marcia Hannah at 248-212-8454.

Hurricane Helene Recovery Virtual Information Session to be Held
Nov. 21: Learn about programs and resources available for hurricane recovery in Georgia

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency
(FSA) in Georgia will host a virtual information session for Hurricane Helene Recovery on Thursday, Nov. 21. Staff will discuss programs and resources that can support your farm’s recovery if impacted by Hurricane Helene, including the Emergency Conservation
Program (ECP) and the Emergency Forest Restoration Program (EFRP).
The virtual event takes place at 1:00pm. Those who plan to attend should RSVP by emailing [email protected].
