es, the Louisville Chapter of the Fellowship of Reconciliation (FOR) helped organize to bring LPFM radio to Louisville with the launch of Forward Radio, WFMP-LP, Louisville, Kentucky, 106.5fm and forwardradio.org in 2017. In 2021, we became fully independent as a registered non-profit "WFMP Low Power Radio, Inc." We seek progressive citizen journalists and radio producers to help get new voices on the air - issues, perspectives, and communities that you won't hear elsewhere on the dial. We are listener-supported and rely not only on volunteer power, but your financial support to stay on air. We also seek local businesses and non-profit organizations that are interested in becoming underwriters. Together we can preserve this precious space in Louisville's media landscape to amplify independent people's voices, free from corporate, government, or big-money interests. It only costs $20/day to keep us on-air. Please consider sponsoring a day, week, or month of broadcasting today!

'Bench Talk: The Week in Science' is celebrating their seventh year on the air with some 'bizarre science' stories. A tree that actually benefits from being struck by lightening? A broad spectrum anti-venom treatment from a man who allowed himself to be bit 200 times by 16 species of poisonous snakes? Serendipitous videos of friendship between classic predators and prey? All on this week's show! Here's the link to the podcast on iTunes. Other ways to listen will be in the Comment section below.

On this week's Access Hour, we bring you a conversation with Gareth Dennis, a United Kingdom-based engineer and author, who was hosted by the High Speed Rail Alliance (https://www.hsrail.org) on July 11, 2025 for a discussion about his new book How the Railways Will Fix the Future. In it, he looks at the history of railways (including the role they have played in extraction and exploitation) but focuses on their power to tackle issues facing us today and to shape a better future. Topics for discussion included lessons to learn from global railway operations on what works best long-term, and what this might mean in the United States. https://soundcloud.com/wfmp-forward-radio/access-hour-how-the-railways-will-fix-the-future-high-speed-rail-alliance-7-16-25
