Independent media is the cornerstone of a truly free and just society. Grassroots Low Power FM (LPFM) radio stations like ours serve as a vital platform to ensure that the diversity of local voices is heard and the public interest is served. A new day has dawned on Louisville's media landscape...and we want YOU to be a part of it! In keeping with its commitment to build just and peaceful communiti

es, the Louisville Chapter of the Fellowship of Reconciliation (FOR) helped organize to bring LPFM radio to Louisville with the launch of Forward Radio, WFMP-LP, Louisville, Kentucky, 106.5fm and forwardradio.org in 2017. In 2021, we became fully independent as a registered non-profit "WFMP Low Power Radio, Inc." We seek progressive citizen journalists and radio producers to help get new voices on the air - issues, perspectives, and communities that you won't hear elsewhere on the dial. We are listener-supported and rely not only on volunteer power, but your financial support to stay on air. We also seek local businesses and non-profit organizations that are interested in becoming underwriters. Together we can preserve this precious space in Louisville's media landscape to amplify independent people's voices, free from corporate, government, or big-money interests. It only costs $20/day to keep us on-air. Please consider sponsoring a day, week, or month of broadcasting today!

This week on Truth to Power, we bring you a conversation about "Interwar Germany and the U.S. Today: Are They Comparable Cases of the Failure of Democracy and the Rise of Dictatorship?" This virtual community conversation with Christopher R. Browning, Professor Emeritus of History at UNC-Chapel Hill, took place on February 24, 2026, and was organized by the Oberlin Club of Washington, D.C. Listen now at https://soundcloud.com/wfmp-forward-radio/truth-to-power-christopher
Given the propensity to invoke Hi**er, N**ism, and fascism in current political discussion, historians of Europe in the era of fascist dictatorship, World War II, and the Holocaust should set a high bar for responsible and informed analogizing, against which facile and distorted attempts can be measured and found wanting. This talk will attempt a careful comparison and contrast between Hi**er and Trump as personalities and politicians, as well as between the fall of Weimar and rise of N**i dictatorship on the one hand and current events and trends in the U.S. on the other. Professor Browning will do so operating from the premise that insights based upon knowledge of the past are very important for illuminating and understanding our current situation, but the careless weaponizing of the past simply to stigmatize one’s opponents is self-defeating.
Christopher is a specialist on the Holocaust and renowned for work documenting the Final Solution, the behavior of those implementing N**i policies, and the use of survivor testimony. He's the author of nine books, including three–Ordinary Men (1992), The Origins of the Final Solution (2004), and Remembering Survival (2010)—which received the National Jewish Book Award in the Holocaust Category. He has served as historical expert witness at two Holocaust denial trials. Christopher was a History major at Oberlin and earned his PhD in History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Truth to Power airs every Friday at 9pm, Saturday at 11am, and Sunday at 7pm on Louisville's grassroots, community radio station, Forward Radio 106.5fm WFMP and live streams at https://www.forwardradio.org

This week on Live at the Bop Stop (Saturday 5am & 9pm, Sunday 2pm): Reclamation Band
Founded in Chicago and Led by Bassist Kevin Robert Martinez, Reclamation Band is modern jazz with an open rural backdrop. Its unique combination of composed and improvised elements evokes an array of moods and styles such as Americana, Avante-Garde and Blues.
A number of things make this group’s sound unique. The first is the equal division between a guitar and two saxophone leads versus a rhythm section that includes Bass and Bass Clarinet along with drums. I’m a sucker for the Bass Clarinet sound and Kevin really understands how to leverage that sound in a way few other composers do. The second is that the group functions more as a versatile collective than as a fixed unit. Some configurations exchange a saxophone for a trumpet while others exclude guitar.
Kevin took eight months off from the band before regrouping for a tour in support of their recent release These Roads, and the new material shines as a result.
Featuring Kevin Martinez on Bass, Anthony Tadeo on Percussion, Dan Bruce on Guitar, Tony Spicer on Bass Clarinet, Chris Coles on Alto Saxophone and Tim McDonald on Tenor Saxophone, and from a July 19th, 2025 performance, Daniel Peck is your host for the Reclamation Band…Live at the Bop Stop.

This week on Sustainability Now!, your host, Justin Mog, gets his hands dirty with two reps from the Jefferson County Soil & Water Conservation District: Board Chair, Sarah Beth Sammons, and Environmental Educator, Bethany Pratt. Learn about the vital work being done to protect our natural resources here in Louisville and Mayor Greenberg’s proposal to gut it. Listen now at https://soundcloud.com/wfmp-forward-radio/sustainability-now-sarah-beth

Learn more at https://jeffcd.org and find them on social media

Established in 1944, the Soil & Water Conservation District is a governmental agency that works to protect Jefferson County’s natural resources. This is done through a variety of means; technical assistance, financial assistance, and education. Unfortunately, the budget proposed by Mayor Greenberg for the next fiscal year plans to cut the District’s already tiny budget by over 54%. If Metro Council passes the budget without restoring funding to the Conservation District, its employees will be terminated, its programs will cease, and conservation work will be severely damaged. The Conservation District’s Board of Supervisors is asking for your help to act in defense of conservation by demanding full funding of the Conservation District.

As always, our feature is followed by your community action calendar for the week, so get your calendars out and get ready to take action for sustainability NOW!

This week on Sustainability Now!, your host, Justin Mog, talks about art and activism with Danica Novgorodoff, a New York Times best-selling illustrator with a new graphic novel out called “A Better World is Possible: Global Youth Confront the Climate Crisis." Listen now at soundcloud.com/wfmp-forward-radio/sustainability-now-danica
In the book, Danica and award-winning environmental journalist Meera Subramanian share experiences from their lives and the lives of the four youth activists who’ve witnessed climate change up close—from wildfires in the Pacific Northwest to floods in Bangladesh. Woven through the stories are deeply researched and fact-checked interludes that explore climate science, environmental justice, biodiversity, and more, along with— of course—solutions! They show us anyone can make meaningful change, because a better world is possible—and together, we can create it.
