Last Friday morning, we started the day with a minimum $376,000 deficit after federal funding for public media was cut as part of the Rescissions Act.

What started as a dark morning turned into an uplifting day of true community. In just 24 hours, you rallied to help us fill that gap (and then some!).

-- 2,500 community members donated
-- 750 new members joined the LPM family
-- Nearly 1,000 monthly Sustainers increased their donation

You helped us raised more than $400,000 to cover our direct federal grant. We are blown away. This is what happens when a community refuses to let something valuable be diminished.

We don’t know yet what will happen to the public media system in the long-run. There are still challenges ahead. But you answered the call when we needed you most, and we can’t thank you enough for your support.

P.S. If you didn't have a moment last week, there’s still time to join or increase your support to help prepare us for the future.Every dollar donated helps minimize the impact of eliminating federal funding for public media. It takes less than two minutes at lpm.org

These Kentucky musicians love LPM and want to do whatever they can to support our work and mission that has meant so much to them personally and professionally.

So, when you become a monthly Sustainer at any amount, we’ll send you a digital download of their exclusive tracks created just for LPM.

“How many times have y’all played our records and told everyone about our shows? How many times have we been invited into your studio to play our music? You’re there for us all the time, and in this moment of trouble, we want to help any way we can. We love you. Thank you.”

Thank YOU Ben, Joan, Nathan, Jim, Rachel, Will, Lacey, Daniel, Heather, Teddy and Joe. ❤️❤️❤️

Donate at lpm.org. It takes less than two minutes.

** You’ll receive the download code when the project is complete in about two weeks. All current Sustainers will have access to the download.

LPM's President & CEO Kenya Young shares what the federal funding cuts mean for our community and the programming you rely on.

Today, Congress passed the Rescissions Act of 2025, eliminating federal funding for public media. For Louisville Public Media, this means the immediate loss of $376,000 from our current budget and every year going forward. This was our single largest grant.

Congress voted to eliminate funding for public media, including funding that was already approved for this year’s budget. This cut to our funding severely compromises the essential services we provide to our community and across the state.

We are now in the challenging position to raise $376,000 to make up for this loss. Federal funding was our single largest grant and we will not find another annual grant that large. We don’t plan to cut any of those programs completely, but the need is real. Here's how you can help

❯ Join as a monthly Sustainer starting at $5/month
❯ Increase your monthly Sustainer donation by $4/month
❯ Make an additional gift of any amount

We appreciate your support. Donate now at LPM.org or call 502-814-6565
