Est. 1985 Louisville, Kentucky Documenting Louisville music 1986-1994.

Mike Bucayu started working the idea of the Self Destruct Records label in 1985 to release the 1st Solution Unknown 7"EP the following year. Named and inspired by Brett Ralph's fanzine SELF DESTRUCT which was very instrumental in promoting the early Louisville underground music scene, the label would follow suit by releasing local music on record, tape or CD until 1994. Sad news to report. We lost another member of the early Self Destruct band Big Deal late last week. RIP to William ”Billy” Bartley, who drummed on Big Deal’s ”Very Mysterious” EP, which was the second single issued by Self Destruct. We lost Gordon Gildersleeve earlier this year. Gone too soon.
