Michael Thacker

Michael Thacker Blogger, writer for Medium, serial entrepreneur, and most times nice guy. I care about the world too! Well, that path was not found, well, until now.

My name is Michael Thacker, and though I have had a very varied career path, I have always believed myself to be a creative sort, even wanting to act or perhaps write someday. Having done both as a teen and young adult, I always thought that might be my "path" eventually. So now, I have returned to writing, both in short forms like haikus and poetry, to longer forms like stories and blog postings. I enjoy it very much and look forward to sharing it with you. I hope that you enjoy it too!

Here is hoping that I make it home before this hits. 😳

Some headlines do more than inform us.

They quietly remind us how fragile life really is.

This morning I read that Senator Lindsey Graham is believed to have died from an aortic dissection. I stopped reading.

Four years ago, doctors discovered an ascending aortic aneurysm growing inside my chest. Left untreated, it could have led to the same kind of catastrophic event.

For years, I’ve focused on everything that came after the surgery—the complications, the setbacks, and the long road back.

This morning, for just a moment, I remembered the story that almost ended before those chapters were ever written.

It’s amazing how an ordinary Monday morning, a cup of coffee, and a single headline can change your perspective.

Sometimes that’s all it takes. ☕️

I was on a walk recently and stumbled upon a local car lot, where I saw these words etched into the metal bed of a work truck. Just struck me as something different you don't see every day, but you think of often. 🇺🇸

I remember when this place opened back in the 80's. So strange to see only the outline of what it used to be. (No, just moved, that's all.)
