Every summer since 1967, the Smithsonian Folklife Festival brings together artisans, musicians, cooks, and storytellers from around the world on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. In 2025, the Festival presents the program Youth and the Future of Culture, July 2–7. Check out this year's AMAZING schedule! As part of the festivities, teenagers from the WXOX Next Wave program will be BROADCASTING LIVE from the festival, so if you can't join us there, you tune us in and bring all the excitement home!!!

Just TWO WEEKS till we are LIVE BROADCASTING from the National Mall!!!!

Countdown to the 2025 Smithsonian Folklife Festival: 2 weeks! 🎉

This summer, the Festival explores how young people influence and engage with culture, and how they create, innovate, and sustain cultural practices and traditions. Drawing from diverse communities and perspectives, the program “Youth and the Future of Culture” will feature youth-centered—and often youth-led—projects and organizations, and individuals who are generating new ideas, transforming their communities, and confronting contemporary challenges.

If you can't join us on the National Mall from July 2–7, don't worry—we'll be live-streaming our featured concerts and select daytime cooking demonstrations from our Festival Foodways venue. Live real-time captioning and American Sign Language Interpretation are available for these programs.

It's here! Get a first look at the 2025 Smithsonian Folklife Festival grounds. 🗺️

In 2025, the Folklife Festival will take place on the National Mall between Ninth and Fourteenth streets, in front of the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, and inside the Arts and Industries Building.

Parking around the National Mall is extremely limited, so we encourage visitors to take Metro Forward, use rideshare services, walk, or bike, if possible.

WXOX GOES TO THE SMITHSONIAN!
This summer, the WXOX Next Wave Academy heads to Washington D.C.! The teenagers of ART FM will be hosting a pop-up radio station on the National Mall as a part of the 2025 Smithsonian Folklife Festival.

The WXOX crew will provide live coverage of the festival events for listeners worldwide on www.artxfm.com and through the free WXOX Apps. Back in Louisville, audiences will be able to tune in through their radios on WXOX 97.1 FM and WXND 100.9 FM.

The theme of this year's Festival is Youth and the Future of Culture. Class of 2025 High School Graduates - Aaron Ziegler (DJ SoTek),) Lila Hayden (musician), Jordan Gray (documentarian), and Maxwell $ Selby (broadcaster) - have been selected for their unique talents to represent WXOX in the nation's capitol.
