In the last episode, I told you the story of Marion Jester-Montoya, a joyful little girl with sparkling brown eyes and a ready smile, who tragically died at the age of 10 months after her mother’s boyfriend zipped her into a backpack all day instead of having someone else care for her. That man, Trevor Rowe, is now serving a life sentence in the Texas Department of Corrections for Marion’s brutal and senseless murder.

In this episode, you’ll hear my recent conversation with Marion’s family: her father, Emilio; her grandma, Sheilah; and her aunt, Carla, who told me about the precious girl they miss every day, how her loss has affected them, and what they’ve experienced over the past six years.

This is part 2 of the heartbreaking story of Marion Jester-Montoya.

Hi, everyone! Part 2 of Marion Jester-Montoya's story will be out within the week. I'm so far behind in every aspect of work (and life), it's not even funny.

If I've promised to cover your child's story on the podcast, please know I haven't forgotten about you! If you want to check in about the timeline, please don't hesitate to email me!

Regarding the birthday and anniversary posts, I missed all of November and now almost half of December, which breaks my heart. All of these kids will forever be in my heart and my mind! As soon as I can start posting them again, I most definitely will.

More soon,

💙 Laine

In my thirteenth episode, I shared the story of 10-month-old Marion Jester-Montoya, an adorable and joyful little girl with a head full of dark hair and an ever-present smile. Marion died on January 7, 2020, after her mother’s boyfriend, Trevor Rowe, decided that instead of leaving Marion with his mother for the day like he usually did, he would stuff the baby into a backpack and leave her in the trunk of his car all day.

Now, I’m re-telling Marion’s story from start to finish, including every update I’ve come across since the original episode. Most importantly, this re-telling involves Marion’s family, as it should have from the beginning.

This is the heartbreaking story of Marion Jester Montoya.

*This formerly Patreon-exclusive bonus minisode was originally released on April 4, 2022.*

Stacey Schuchart was nine months pregnant with her seventh child. None of her previous six children were legally in her custody, although at least some of them had been illegally staying with Stacey and her partner, Sean Buttery, for about a month when, on August 16, 2019, a 911 call summoned first responders to the family's home in Dayton, Kentucky, on a report of a child not breathing.

Sean Ryan Buttery Jr., known as Ryan by those who loved him, was two days shy of 18 months of age when he died from a laundry list of injuries that caused, according to the coroner, "the level of trauma that she would expect from a serious car accident," including four pelvic fractures, a detached bladder, and other indications that Stacey had stomped her toddler son to death.

This is the horrific story of Ryan Buttery.

Gah. I just realized how long it's been since I posted anything, let alone a new episode. This past month or so has been... interesting, to say the least.

The "kids" and I (who am I kidding? as of next month, I'll have two adult children 😭) finally found a place to move after 10 months of searching. I've been packing since May, but October was the big month. Right smack in the middle of packing, I ended up in the ER with very sudden gallbladder pancreatitis, was admitted for three days, and had to get my gallbladder removed. What does that mean? NO LIFTING. And this was a week before we moved!

On that topic, the move that should've taken one day ended up taking close to a week. We had no idea how much crap we actually owned until we had to pack/donate/trash it all. We've gotten quite familiar with the local MUA and our new storage locker, and we've kept a few local donation pickup organizations busy.

Anyway, we love the new place! Nova and Ricky (the cats) love having new places to explore. Nova in particular is enjoying the unpacked boxes, finding her perch at the top of the highest piles because she's (obviously) the Queen of the Castle. We're still settling in two weeks later, but I finally finished getting the kitchen unpacked yesterday.

I'm still writing freelance articles to keep the lights on, but my desk got damaged in the move. Lo and behold, my long-dormant crafty instincts kicked in, and I'm now building a pallet desk in my "spare time" (hahahahahahahahahahahaha). In the meantime, I'm working on a desk made of a bulletin board balanced on two filing cabinets. But you better believe my audio setup is present and accounted for!

In fact, I just recorded a conversation with a family last week (two days before a root canal, because of course that happened), so new episodes ARE coming! I hope to have part one of that two-part story out sometime this coming week. Cross your fingers!

Thanks for your patience, everyone! I'm going to release another formerly Patreon-exclusive bonus minisode today or tomorrow, just so you have something to listen to while I work on the next full episode.

Love you all!

Everything about Quortney Kley’s case has always been shocking and baffling, and this latest update is no different. If only the courts cared as much about this beautiful little girl and the family who loves her as they care about bending over backwards for her ra**st and murderer.

A Carpentersville man, on parole for the murder and s*xual assault of a 20-month-old girl, charged with violating his release terms.

What is Suffer the Little Children?

*I posted the following article on sufferthelittlechildrenblog.com yesterday. My reasons for doing the podcast are, of course, identical!*

A lot of people look at the title of my blog and have an instant negative reaction. One Facebook user even gave it a negative review based on the name alone.

Why did I choose the name “Suffer the Little Children,” you might wonder?

I am not a particularly religious person, but I have my own beliefs, and I have a strong sense of right and wrong. I am a highly empathetic person, and I adore children more than anything else in the world.
