Congrats to Gold Award Girl Scout Reta!

Reta noticed that teen attendance was the lowest of all age groups at the Columbus Metropolitan Library, and wanted to improve the programming and events for teenagers in the library.

“I created the Teen Advisory Council to give teens a voice within the public library system. As a council, we hold monthly meetings to discuss what went well during the previous month, what could've gone better or differently, monthly themes to focus on, and mini lessons to keep everyone thinking. This council was created to give more teens a chance to be heard and a safe place for their thoughts. The Teen Advisory Council will give more teens a chance to get their opinions and voices heard in ways they would never think of.”

During the time Rita was at the library working on their Gold Award, they found a true passion for the library, and they wants to continue that in their future at college for library sciences.

Look at all the AMAZING donations we've recieved for our camp programming through our Amazon wishlist! The paints will go down to Camp Molly Lauman for our art camps and the rubber bands will be used for tie dye! The cooking equipment and arrow repair pieces will be used at all of our Girl Scouts of Ohio's Heartland day camp sites this summer. We even recieved the generous donation of an Epi-pen to be sent to Camp Molly Lauman this summer in case of an emergency. Not pictured is a new set of practice AED's that will be used to train our staff to help campers in an emergency for years to come.

Do you know a graduating senior or a young adult with no summer plans? GSOH is still hiring positions at Camp Molly Lauman and Camp Ken Jockety! Spend the summer at camp changing lives, learning new skills, building a resume and having fun.

Open Positions for staff 18 years and older:
Lifeguard at Camp Ken-Jockety
Shifts Monday-Friday, 9:00-4:00 (hours vary)
Training begins May 31, and Day Camp begins June 3
Not a lifeguard yet? If you are a strong swimmer, we will provide American Red Cross training!

Not looking for an entire summer of camp, but want to add a little adventure to your summer? An additional volunteer is needed to chaperone an Adventure Trek to West Virginia June 16-June 23. Explore the ACE Adventure Resort with campers in grades 6-12, while rafting, biking, climbing and more! This volunteer should be 18 years or older, with a current Girl Scout membership and background check. The ideal volunteer would be comfortable and willing to participate in outdoor activities but does not need to be an expert. If interested, contact Megan at [email protected]

Resident Camp is the place you’ll grow – literally! Some of your favorite camp staff even grew up going to Camp Molly Lauman, like Healthcare Supervisor Zion!

Camp made a profound impact on my life and that was why I was so excited to be back this past summer to help the next generation of campers grow into who they will be,” says Zion

There’s no kind of buddy like a camp buddy! Girl Scouts Amory and Mya are a perfect example!

Amory and Mya met in 2016 as brand-new Daisies and had an instant connection. They have had so many adventures because of Girl Scouts, from their first time at sleep away camp, to selling 1000’s of boxes of cookies and being on television.

Though they are currently attending separate schools in different districts, they are the best of friends and look forward to so many more adventures. Had it not been for Girl Scouts, these girls probably never would have met.
