Spiritual Awakening Rally at Westside Baptist Church – October 17 & 18

NACOGDOCHES, TX — Westside Baptist Church invites the community to two unforgettable nights of worship, preaching, and spiritual renewal at its Spiritual Awakening Rally this Friday and Saturday at 6:00 PM.
Across our nation, we see signs of spiritual decline — communities fractured, common courtesy fading, and crime increasing. Many hearts have grown cold. But throughout history, when darkness deepened, God brought light through powerful spiritual awakenings. That same kind of awakening can happen here, now, in our city.
This rally is more than just a church event — it’s a call to our community to come alive again through the power of the Gospel. Jesus once told Nicodemus, “You must be born again.” When a heart is transformed by the Gospel, an awakening begins that can ripple through families, neighborhoods, and entire communities.
Friday Night: Youthful Preaching – Nathan & Ethan Yates
Dynamic brothers Nathan and Ethan Yates from Douglass, TX, will bring the Word and music on Friday night. Ethan Yates, Worship Minister at FBC Grandview, is a gifted musician and songwriter who has worked with professional artists in Nashville and has shared the gospel through music for over 15 years. He has preached at many youth events and many Churches.
Nathan Yates, Pastor of North Highlands Baptist Church in Houston, has a heart for reaching people of all ages. Formerly a youth pastor at multiple Texas churches, Nathan has seen more than 75 young people come to Christ through his ministry.
Their passion, energy, and clear Gospel message promise to inspire both young and old.
Saturday Night: A Seasoned Voice – Rev. Dr. Herman Fitzgerald Johnson
Saturday’s message will be brought by Rev. Dr. Herman Johnson, a beloved native of Nacogdoches and a respected pastor with a heart for discipleship. Dr. Johnson has prepared for ministry through BMA Seminary, Liberty University, and Andersonville Baptist Seminary.
He is known for challenging believers to “love the Word, learn the Word, and live the Word.”
And leading the worship both nights will be Bro. Don Chumley, pastor of Spring Hill Baptist in Martinsville — a very talented musician who will help set the stage for a powerful encounter with God.
An Invitation to Experience Salvation and Renewal!
Westside Baptist Church believes this rally can be a turning point for individuals, families, and the community. Whether you’ve walked with God for years or are searching for answers, these nights will offer hope, inspiration, and a clear message of new life in Christ.
