Flyleaf Publishing

Flyleaf Publishing Flyleaf Publishing offers authentic decodable literature and evidence-based instructional materials to supplement and enhance every beginning reading program.

Please visit us at www.FlyleafPublishing.com. Books to Remember provide engaging and successful first reading experiences for students who are not yet ready to read trade books independently. With fine-art illustrations and beautifully written decodable text, the Emergent Reader Series and Decodable Literature Library provide students with abundant opportunities to transfer their knowledge of lett

er-sound correspondences and irregular high-frequency words. In turn, students develop decoding skills, automaticity, accuracy, and fluency, freeing their minds to focus on comprehension and the meaningful text they are reading. Easy to use instructional materials help teachers deliver effective evidence-based literacy instruction. Even the most novice teachers can deliver explicit, evidence-based lessons in 10- to 30-minute lesson blocks using our Teacher's Guides and Learning Cards. Our instructional materials are designed to be used in conjunction with the curriculum being implemented in the classroom, enhancing the quality of instruction and motivating teachers to deliver best-practice lesson models. Lessons build skills in the areas of phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency and address the K–2 Reading Standards for Foundational Skills and the K–3 Standards for Literature in the Common Core State Standards.

But the Flyleaf Publishing program, with lesson plans, decodable books, and scope & sequence, helps ensure my students receive the reading instruction they need!”

We are happy to announce the publication of the Reading Series 3 Close Reading Guides. This means that the Flyleaf Reading Series 3 Classroom Set is complete!

Reading Series 3 Close Reading Guides support teachers in delivering systematic and comprehensive evidence-based comprehension instruction that corresponds with each Reading Series 3 decodable text. The instruction is designed to enable teachers to gradually release to students the responsibility for analyzing texts, understanding vocabulary in context, and supporting answers with evidence during purposeful partner discussions and collaborative conversations. Carefully developed discussion guides, analysis charts, and additional instructional tools are provided to scaffold students toward independent thinking. Instructional scripts are included to support teachers in guiding students to reflect on the author’s craft and to summarize and synthesize understandings of the text. Intentional rereading and reflecting gives students the practice they need to think deeply about the book they are reading as well as to develop automaticity, fluency, and prosody. Upon the completion of close reading instruction, students will have opportunities to engage in action-oriented activities that demonstrate—orally and/or in writing—their understanding of each text.

If you are interested in viewing the complete Flyleaf Reading Program, please visit our website at www.flyleafpublishing.com. Together, our foundational skills and close reading guides align with the science of reading and are available in four series appropriate for students in kindergarten through grade three, or for older students in need of intervention.
