I really don’t have words for how much I love little moments like this.
When little turtles find little puddle ponds in the safety of our space.
Makes me feel like there must be something good in me…
If such good little moments of sunshine and rain happen every single day.
Moment like this, make me feel like I am enough.
Because a turtle in a puddle is certainly enough for me.

The Sorting of Baggage
~thoughts from a mudlark~

It’s been a long week.
The kind of week that feels like its had too many days squished Into hours where they dont fit.
My brain, heart, and spirit is heavy.
So on days like this, when I have enough mental strength left over…I sort.

I sort river glass, porcelain stoneware, artifacts.
I unpack and repack. Every time, a little neater.
Emotional baggage can be looked at the same way.

I have found that the heavy things we carry never truly go away.
But we do learn how to carry them different.
For me, it comes down to the sorting.

I unpack and repack, better each time.
Faster each time.
And somehow, life begins to feel a little bit lighter.

On this beautiful Friday, I hope that if you are carrying heavy things, that perhaps a bit of sorting will help to lighten your burden.

What does treasure look like to you?
To me, treasure is finding thousands of 35mm projector slides ARCHIVAL QUALITY from a university collection.
Today we’re organizing them…
Roman/Greek Art, photos from Tibet (art, sculptures, etc.), Italian Renaissance, Communist architecture, portraits, texts, and more and more and more.
We’re still figuring outt what the categories are going to be, it’s just so much.
And every singlet slide is perfectly labeled.

This is treasure. I still can’t believe it.

I’ll never forget what it felt like to finish 120 miles kayaking the James River in Virginia. I’ll never forget what my body can do, what my mind can set itself upon, and the kind of courage it takes to choose a different life. I chose to make a change back in February 2022 to take my body back when my body screamed out in pain because of the choices I was making. Taking charge of my health was the best choice I ever made.
