Live Like Drew Foundation

What a wonderful surprise it was serving the local hero, Honor Allen, and his family and friends. He has made six trips to Ireland winning the oyster shucking championships. I hope to follow him one day on one of those trips.

We shared the story of the Live Like Drew Foundation and how Drew MacLean lived such a n amazing life while inspiring others to look at everyday as an oppurtunity to bless others and put a smile on someone’s face. The live like Drew foundation raises money throughout the year with different fundraising events, such as golf tournaments, etc. Once a year on Drew’s birthday, they will give out cards and buy people’s meals to remind them that every day is an opportunity to bless someone else. Unfortunately, Drew was killed in a car accident years ago, but his memory lives on, and as the foundation buys your meal, the message on the card tells his story and simply ask that you pass on the blessing.

Tomorrow is Drew's 40th birthday!!! Every year on his birthday, we celebrate with a "Random Acts of Kindness" day to try to bless people during this holiday season the way that Drew often did! So please join the Foundation in making this the best one yet! Look for an opportunity and follow that heart tug to make someone's day (big or small) and encourage others to spread some kindness in honor of Drew!

It's been 13 years since we've seen this smile or received one of those big bear hugs. Thank you, Lord for the hope we have in the promises of Heaven.

Earlier today, a friend reflecting on Drew said something that felt profound. They said Drew "would always go out of his way to do the right thing even if no one saw." He didn't just do the right thing if it was easy or convenient. He went out of his way to do it.

This week, let's challenge ourselves to go out of our way to do the right thing. Be inconvenienced to follow that tug of the Holy Spirit. Sacrifice to make someone's day. Not sure if it will matter to anyone? Do it anyways.
