Hi, guys! I'm Alina, I'm Russian and want you to know what's happening in Russia now.
Yesterday our government and president just in one day approved the law by which telling about events in Ukraine is a «fake news» -and it’s a criminal liability up to 15 years of prison. It’s still not very clear how it could be interpreted (so, they can do it in a way they want), but it turns out I can go to prison if I write twice «No war» here. It led to elimination of all of the remaining independent mass media, which were closing with fantastic speed in the last few days because of government pressure; it also led to removal of news by other media and people in their social networks and to future silence about it. The government also have blocked media working from outside, facebook and twitter (we still can use it with vpn, but they are working on it). This process of shutting up all of the voices have already been for a while with a law about «foreign agents», but at the moment it’s just as repressive as you can imagine.
A little bit more about protests. If you go on streets, you can be taken by police, violently beaten and unfairly condemned. They take even pregnant women and children. They are working on a law by what you can be taken from the protest strait to army. Also they a speaking about remain of a death penalty.
Despite this, brave people across the country will continue to come out to protest against the war and Putin's terrible, monstrous political regime. We need your support, we need money for lawyers and to help the families of those arrested. Donations will be received by employees of human rights organizations that protect people from the unfair justice system in Russia.
As long as the whole world is against us, we will not win. Please support us! Give us a chance!
