SILENT AUCTION ITEMS NEEDED FOR LIBERTY HALL FUNDRAISER

Friends! I'm proud to serve on the board of Liberty Hall, which is Machiasport's gorgeous, historic civic hall in the process of restoration. The building is stable, and the exterior is beautifully restored, but the next phase of restoration will address the interior which needs a few small tweaks like, say, heating.

The town is hosting a PUBLIC BENEFIT SUPPER FEB. 10 (mark your calendars!) and looking for silent auction items to include.

Are you a local merchant who could donate an item for auction or the raffle? Let me know and I will THANK YOU then get you in touch with our fearless leader.

On the most recent edition of the Way Downeast podcast, the Machias Area Food Pantry announced its new capital campaign which, when complete, will enable the pantry to purchase a large walk-in cooler.

The cooler will allow them to take delivery of more fresh food for more Washington County people. As pantry co-directors Ken Warner and Nancy Lewis explain, the need for more food has grown 23% in the last two years.
