VILLA NOUVELLE VAGUE | MAGALIE MUNTERS™️ ARCHITECTURE | KOKSIJDE, BELGIUM | 2025

1. Concept & Context
Conceived as a sculpted mass within the North Sea dunes of Oostduinkerke. The design uses organic geometry to free the building from conventional rectilinear constraints. The curved concrete volume references protective seashells and the boat-shaped Normandie restaurant, creating a dialogue between natural form and modernist heritage.

2. Site Strategy
1. Dune integration: Bedrooms are anchored into the dunes for wind protection and thermal mass.
2. Mass tapering: Building narrows toward the rear to create a generous garden and expose south/west façades to sunlight.
3. Daylight optimization: Geometry allows light to wrap the building throughout the day, responding to compact coastal conditions.

3. Spatial Experience
- Vertical stratification: Private spaces sit low within the dunes, public spaces rise toward the horizon.
- Compression & release: Entry via a dramatic vertical shaft that opens to the roof, then expands from low kitchen ceiling to high panoramic living space.
- View framing: Ceiling rises at the sea-facing end to direct focus outward.
