In Memory of Regeneration Writer, Dr. Duane Evans Davis & In Celebration of His Life One of the many gifts of being an editor is working closely with highly gifted and polished writers toward the publication of their works. Dr. Duane Evans Davis wrote the book, Light in Dark Places: A Teacher’s Reflections on the Journey Thus Far, in 2011. His “An Open Letter to My Students” at the outset of the book reveals the soul and heart of a great and honest educator, whose task became to “punch holes in the darkness” toward fitting his many students to “bring light and beauty to a dark and ugly world.” …...

I don't know about you, but I am tired of Americans fighting Americans, Democrats and Republicans facing off in camps, families and friends being dragged into the fray, siding, and siding and siding. When will it ever end?

Don't fight Ugly with Ugly, Oppression with Oppression, Hate with Hate!

We are All Children of God--regardless of our gender, our color, our party, our economic status, our blood type, our sexual preference, our religion, our IQ, our Age, our Mental Acuity . . .

Wolves still wrap themselves in sheepskins to take advantage of us, to lead us down the wrong pathway. That means that we have the responsibility to learn to recognize behaviors that claim to be for us, while working to divide us. We can measure each other by whether our actions unite or divide.

We probably all know the old saying that birds of a feather flock together. Look to see which birds potential leaders are flocking together with. None of us is perfect. But if we find ourselves in the company of thieves six days out of seven, there's a good chance that we have adopted the thief mentality: What's mine is mine. What's yours is mine, if I can get it.

Hi**er taught us that if we tell the big lie over and over again, most of us will eventually accept that big lie as truth. The big lie that the group of large planters told resulted in the creation of white Americans and non-white Americans. Political dividers used the big lie about inerrancy to divide what was then the largest religious body in the nation, the Southern Baptists. If we look honestly enough, we can identify the group that divided our America into warring camps. Maybe we can even decipher which group intentionally divided the Democrats.

United we stand, divided we fall.

Take some time this week to reflect.
