At first glance, 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙁𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙘 𝙁𝙤𝙪𝙧: 𝙁𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝙎𝙩𝙚𝙥𝙨 might resemble any other superhero movie. Sure, there are space-time distortions, black holes, a Silver Surfer, a cosmic behemoth so enormous he can swallow entire planets whole, and superheroic punch-outs. But something about this one might surprise you–in a genre saturated with secularism, this film explores the 𝗯𝗲𝗮𝘂𝘁𝘆, 𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴. It contains a vital affirmation: 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲.

On July 9, Pope Leo XIV donned emerald damask in the Laudato Si’ Village, an ecological center located at the papal summer residence of Castel Gandolfo. The sun shone on the small, private gathering of Vatican staff, reflecting off the small pond that spread before the altar.

This was the inaugural 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Newly added to the Roman Missal, it is one of seventeen Masses dedicated to “civil needs.” As we see in the Mass’ press coverage and the Holy Father’s homily, the safekeeping of creation, care for those most vulnerable, and striving for peace are not only intertwined, but symbiotic. It’s National Internship Day!

Today we’re excited to introduce and celebrate our new intern, 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒑𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝑹𝒖𝒍𝒆 🎉

Stephen was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and is a recent convert to the Catholic faith—drawn in by the wisdom of the Church’s great saints, especially St. Augustine and St. Thérèse of Lisieux. He’s currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Theology at Franciscan University of Steubenville.

A lover of reading, writing, and music, Stephen is passionate about using his gifts to share the faith with others. We’re grateful to have him on board and look forward to all he’ll bring to our mission.

Back in 2022, writer Rietta Marie Parker was living with her husband in an apartment complex five minutes away from a perpetual adoration chapel. One afternoon there, she started meditating on that day’s gospel acclamation:

𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙞𝙨𝙚 𝙗𝙧𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙨𝙢𝙖𝙞𝙙, 𝙬𝙝𝙤𝙢 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙇𝙤𝙧𝙙 𝙛𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙 𝙬𝙖𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜; 𝙖𝙩 𝙃𝙞𝙨 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙨𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙞𝙣 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙃𝙞𝙢 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙚𝙙𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙩.

In 2019, Brandon Forschino took a long, scenic trek up the Boulevard Trail to Tennessee’s Mt. LeConte. The trip unwittingly sparked a renewed spiritual fervor that led him to an unexpected place for a faithful protestant: weekly Eucharistic Adoration. In his forthcoming new book, 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗝𝗲𝘀𝘂𝘀’ 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗶𝗴𝘂𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, Forschino combines memoir and theological reflection to explore Christ’s Transfiguration as he discovered it in the adoration chapel. The result is a slim volume of 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. His scriptural literacy and theological proficiency play a large role in this accomplishment, but readers will also sense that a heartfelt reverence for true encounters with Christ is the project's well-oiled engine.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 is a new film billed as a drama-horror-thriller inspired by one of the most thoroughly documented exorcisms in American history—Emma Schmidt, 1928, Iowa.
