Chip Minton labored five years in the ring as “Mr. World Class” for World Championship Wrestling. Minton was part of an entourage of aspiring young wrestlers who tagged along behind the headliner Hulk Hogan for the Monday Nitro and Thursday Night Thunder bouts.

The Bibb County School District named Pastor Dominique Johnson as its new truancy intervention specialist, working within the community to get kids back in the classroom.

The hire comes after the Macon-Bibb County Board of Commissioners approved $345,000 in July for the district to hire a truancy officer for three years.

The Promise Scholarship program helps pay for enrollment in private schools or home school programs. All Bibb County Schools students are eligible for the scholarship because every attendance zone in the county has at least one school in the bottom 25% performing schools.

The Promise Scholarship awards money annually to students enrolled at any one of the dozens of attendance across the state with at least one school that’s been identified by the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement as being in the lowest-performing quartile.
