That’s why we’re here. From the young age of 7, Shawn's father worked at the movie theatre on the Army Base in the projection room. Shawn followed him to work whenever he could. Back then, movie theatres were more of a "hands -on" process. The sight, sounds, smells and overall experience with handling film still drives his passion today. Shawn's first experience with photography was in high school

when his teacher gave him a camera and an assignment to capture "whatever meant the most to him". Time in the darkroom, the manual process of developing film along with the anticipation of the final product was motivation in itself. The positive praise he received from his pictures around the players and energy on and around basketball court confirmed his belief in his talent and skills behind the lens. All of these combined experiences and positive memories with both film and photography drive the passion behind Shawn Maxwell Cinema. Fast forward to today. Shawn's mission is to partner with businesses, corporations and organizations as he teaches the importance of a Visual Branding Message. In today's competitive environment, the company who excels in delivering a vibrant and memorable visual representation of their product or brand positions itself in the marketplace to be remembered as a game changer, a leader and an innovator in the industries they represent. Shawn’s future goals include writing, directing and producing full feature movies, short films, documentaries and television projects. In the meantime along that journey, Shawn as his team continues to be a driving force behind delivering a customized, multimedia marketing and branding experience designed specifically for your business.

Shawn Maxwell Studio will officially be in Norfolk, VA supporting STRAND for the Town Hall experience.

This isn’t just about cameras and content. It’s about capturing conversations that matter. Stories that matter. Education that can change the way stylists respond before a diagnosis ever happens.

We’ll be on-site providing media coverage, storytelling, photography, video production, BTS content, interviews, and creative support throughout the event.

We started on the East Coast… Atlanta, Maryland, Richmond, Norfolk… touched the Midwest in Chicago… and now? We taking this thing all the way to the West Coast 🌉

San Francisco… we on the way.

🌟 A Community Built on Coffee and Connection 🌟

There’s nothing more powerful than community and coffee, and in Silver Spring, Maryland, perfectly embodies both. This cozy spot in Fenton Village is more than just a coffee shop—it’s a haven where you can escape the chaos of the world and feel right at home.

During my visit, I discovered my new favorite drink—chai lattes—and spent hours soaking in the warmth of the space (and my cup). Lene, the owner, kept my cup full while sharing the heartwarming history of the café.

Kefa Cafe isn’t just a coffee shop; it’s a pillar of the community. From the Global Refugee Mural on its side—symbolizing unity and hope—to its beginnings as one of the first businesses in the area, this café has been part of Silver Spring’s transformation. Lene’s passion for helping those in need and fostering community shines through in every detail of this space.

I can’t wait to return for more stories, more chai, and to experience the heart of Kefa Cafe all over again. 🫶☕
