Today marks a special milestone—twenty years ago, my father and I launched Little Bay Broadcast Services. My father had recently transitioned from Venue Services Group, and I had just become a father myself, which meant I could no longer continue as a mobile TV EIC. At a time when we both felt the need for change, starting our own company was an easy decision. My father’s only condition was that we wouldn’t call it “Raynes and Son,” while mine was that we would be equal partners.
In those early days, Little Bay was nothing more than a laptop, a used plotter, and an office in my father’s heated automotive shop. From there, we grew, moving from a small 400 sq. ft. space to a 5,000 sq. ft. building and eventually a 17,000 sq. ft. warehouse. At our peak, we employed over 20 talented individuals, and I’m still in awe of everything we accomplished with such a fantastic crew and the incredible customers who trusted us along the way.
Looking back, it’s hard to count the number of fly packs, mobile production kits, TV stations, arenas, mobile production trucks, ocean exploration labs, mobile command posts, and editing suites that have shaped the past two decades. Along the way, we’ve made lasting friendships and experienced the deep sorrow of losing some—including my father this past September. While I can’t say for sure what 2025 holds for Little Bay, I’m confident it will be an exciting year!
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has been part of our journey. Your support and dedication have been integral to our success. Wishing you and your family a Happy New Year!
