To the Valley! ⚔️
Congrats to Sparkman’s Will Peccia, who is now SIGNED with Wabash Valley College! ✔️
Will heads to Mt Carmel, taking his Baseball talents to a place well-known for their prestige on the diamond and with sending athletes to the next stage of their career goals.
His peers and mentors all say that Will has shown tremendous growth since he earned his spot on Varsity as a Sophomore, with plenty of room to grow yet.
Ben Stevenson, head coach of Sparkman Baseball, has had a front row seat to Will’s success on the field and his growth as a person off of it.
He says his biggest role in this process is being a “sounding board” for Will, as somebody who sticks up and vouches for his abilities and potential.
While Will is known for plenty of talent behind the plate at Catcher, it’s his prowess at the plate with his bat which has always been the constant.
However, the improvement is in all aspects of his game and his character.
“One of our mottos is be ‘Hard to Kill’ and the whole thought behind that is compete non-stop. We handed out a ‘Hard to Kill Award,’ which he won, because that’s who he is. His mindset carries over to a lot of what we do,” Stevenson said.
Will heads to a place that competes at a high level on a national scale, as Wabash Valley frequently leaves Illinois to play in Texas, Florida, and other big-name environments around the country.
“Go find a place that’s right for you, where you can make an impact, and you’ll be amazed at the doors that open,” Coach Stevenson said.
It is that highly competitive atmosphere Will is looking forward to greatly. While it is undoubtedly a step up, playing at the 7A level in Alabama surely helps prepare him.
“We play the best of the best at the highest level in Alabama every single year,” Will said. “It’s really going to help seeing good competition and D1 arms.“
However, much to the delight of Coach Stevenson, the Senators still have one more year with Will, and they are all expecting big things.
“In my opinion, we have the best team we’ve had since I’ve been here,” Will said. “We are expecting a big run.”
Congrats to Will Peccia on his signing day, and keep being great!
