AHSAA Record! Ider’s Makinley Traylor, as reliable as they come, set the AHSAA State Softball record for constitutive games played over a career!

Makinley has played a lot of Softball…and we mean a LOT! While her career is longstanding on its own, the consistency is what stands out, with Makinley playing in 278 straight games as a proud Lady Hornet from 2021-2026. For those keeping up at home, that’s a lot.

Makinley helped Ider reach State as Regional winners of the Qualifier 1 spot.

She is bound for Faulkner Women’s Basketball after winning 1A Player of the Year this past HS season, showcasing her athleticism.

Commitment news ➡️ to the Highlands! Izzy Fearnside with Madison County and NASA Volleyball recently announced her commitment to the next level with Georgia Highlands.

Izzy has multiple honors over her career with school ball, such as All-State HM, All-Region, and multiple All-Area teams. She has State tournament experience, and a County tournament title under her belt, with one more year to go as a Class of 2027 member!

Additionally, she is a longtime and dedicated member of NASA Volleyball, a group significantly impacting Izzy’s ability to reach the next level.

Stangs on top! ⬆️🐎 Congrats to the NACC Softball program for the continuation of their scorching rise in the sport, as they secured the JUCO National Title in just their second season on the diamond! They ended the year with a stellar 56-4 record.

The Lady Mustangs defeated Temple College from Chocolocco Park, with NACC only needing to win one in the title series. Temple College needed to beat them twice, but NACC handled business in game one, final score of 7-3.

The up and coming athletics program has worked hard to find the right people, and it has paid off very quickly for Softball.

Black Bear is a Dawg! Rising Junior with Austin Softball Grace Lamb had a great Sophomore campaign with the Lady Black Bears, as one of multiple key players during their postseason push to the Final Four of 7A!

Competing at the largest class in Alabama, Austin won their Area, and then were one of the last four teams standing in the State after a great run at Regionals (Qualifier 2) and then down in Oxford.

For her efforts on the mound, at the plate, and otherwise, here are some of Grace’s Sophomore stats. ⬇️

Batting362 on base pct, 3 HRs

Pitching
4.23 ER in 124 innings

Defensively991 fielding pct on 211 chances

New 4A, familiar rivals! High School Basketball’s revamped Class 4A Area 15 pits a trio of Morgan County schools with a regular rival from Limestone!

Brewer, Priceville, and West Morgan all have years of competition built up from playing each other in county tournaments, area tournaments, and just overall intense matchups. Ardmore has faced Brewer and Priceville regularly at 5A. West Morgan remains at 4A, while the other trio competed at the 5A level for Men’s and Women’s hoops over this past season.

💨 Ardmore Softball’s Payton Pennington, 5A Stolen Base Queen!

Congrats to the standout Softball player on another great season, as Payton helped The Lady Tigers reach success as back-to-back Area Champs, and competing heavily at an elite Regionals that would yield the eventual State champion (Lawrence Co).

Payton made her mark on the base-paths, tallying 45 stolen bases on the season to put her in first place in 5A 👑

To quote the movies: “She’s so fast, she makes really fast people look not so fast.”

She also just received all county honors. Congrats!

Sky is the limit for the rising Senior, and keep being great!

Winner! 🥇 Congrats to Good Hope Football’s Karson Hollis on winning Bracket 118 for 256 Athlete of the Week!

The rising Senior was a crucial part of another successful Raiders season on the gridiron, which includes a Quarterfinals appearance in 2025, with a new 4A Region coming soon.
