Curb Magazine Curb is a lifestyle magazine produced by students in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Our 2021 editorial philosophy: Out Of The Dark

Some of our most important moments happen in the dark: the peaceful, the tragic, the joyful. We work to reveal how the people of Wisconsin embrace the dark, expose injustices in the shadows and highlight the unseen with a celebration of the darkness. In this issue of Curb, we will explore the stories rooted in the dark – both literally and metaphorically.

Across Wisconsin’s more than 58,000 farms, life pulls in many directions — and stress can run deep. Curb has compiled a guide to mental health resources tailored for the state’s farmers: crisis lines, counseling, community networks and care. Because staying afloat isn’t just about hard work — it’s about knowing when to reach out for help.

To learn more about the networks creating change for Wisconsin’s farming community, check out the end of Isabelle Dunai's story “Grief Behind Grit"" for the full compilation.

Mariachi Corcel de Madison travels all over the state to share mariachi music with the people of Wisconsin. On the morning of October 11, 2025, they travelled to the Oshkosh Public Museum to perform a repertoire of traditional Mexican music in celebration of Latine Heritage Month. Later that day, they drove down to Breese Stevens Field in Madison to perform for a crowd of Forward Madison FC fans. All in a day’s work for “Wisconsin’s ambassadors of mariachi.”
